Make certain bonuses base XP increases (most notably social and underpopulation)

Dear devs and other people,
ever since the mob type bonus xp (which I think is great) I think some bonuses kinda faded into nothingness. Main Problem being the amount of bonuses and stacking.

Even calculating very conservative just hitting 300% mob and ignoring ALL other bonuses a 10% underpop bonus looks like this:
No Bonus: 400% base xp
With Bonus: 410% base xp

So basically a 10% bonus turns into 2.5% more xp in virtually the BEST scenario possible. If you include guild, frontier, camp and whatever else there is the number only gets smaller. Same goes for social. You don't exactly get invited for 1% extra XP.

You can tweak the numbers to your hearts content and prioritze as you want, but I think that you could make specific bonuses more relevant and meaningful by makeing them affect base xp (like challenge mode does).

Counterargument may be "leveling is already fast enough", which is fair but not my point at all. I have no issues with the current leveling speed. Actually I think it's great, at least for the groupable classes.

It's just that underpop and social bonuses simply do not serve the purpose they were implemented for, since no one cares.

(Maybe something already changed here, then just lock I have been away fairly long time but this always kind of bothered me)

Kind Regards,
Sheltem

I agree, especially social.

Grouping has become way less important for XP than the other factors. Which means fewer group opportunities, especially for stealther classes.

I think camp bonuses, unique class bonus, and group XP bonuses should be higher.

Fully agree...i have also had similar thoughts when i levelled an alt in the last weeks.
Most XP-Boni are irrelevant...the only thing that counts is the mobtype bonus, as it shadows everything else. If you get other boni when at a good mobtype-spot then that's nice to have...but it doesn't influence my decisionmaking at all

The Frontier bonus of 20% is also laughable. Nothing about that bonus makes me want to go into the frontier.

The mob-type XP bonus is just too high imo, and not fully doing what it is supposed to do. It has changed the spots that people levelled at....when it was implemented. But is it still doing that? It seems the boni per mobtype are mostly stagnant, with humanoids and demons being kept as the baseline due to them being lvl50 farming targets.
It's not so bad if this mechanic doesn't fully do what is was suppsoed to do...but the underpop bonus not really working/being worth is more of an issue.

On the other hand levelling doesn't need to get faster imo...it is already very fast.

Agreed. I specifically left out frontier, because you also get tinders which are actually valuable if you don't have them stacked already. Also if the bonus was too high it could lead to negative player experiences, as in feeling "forced" to level there and rather log after 5th gank than go into safe zone. How rewarding frontier bonuses are is very much a overall design choice as well, though it's true the 20% suffer the same fate as the other bonuses in being pretty meaningless and would probably(?) not be over the top as base as well.

I personally like the leveling speed as is and am happy its more on the 20h than the 48h side. It's also true mob bonuses got somewhat stagnant for sure. But also different discussions.

If overall leveleling speed remains the same but gets normalized a bit more between wanted and unwanted classes that would be nice for social bonuses.
Why underpopulation bonuses should exist is pretty self-explanatory.

Both just kinda don't work.

Also I guess guild-XP bonus is also affected by this, though personally I am fine with this one. Guild bonuses created a lot of leeching/not very social guild behavior in wow.

The underpop bonus is already working on top of the total before underpop, just like the guild and xp buff potion bonus, all other bonuses are working off of the base xp.

The best way to level DAoC ever offered was level in Battlegrounds.
Mob kill tasks, Enemy Player kill tasks, Keep raids tasks and all BGs were full! We used to raom in BGs, had lot of fun on 1 vs 1, smal vs small, 8 vs 8 and killed by lower activity some mobs. That was really funny way to rich lvl 50! Additional - the bosses in bgs with good ROGs and weapon and armor drops from Keep Lords and NPCs in each BG.

Bonus system of leveling on Phoenix still the same boring grind for hours, days and weeks most people hated from very beginning!
