Increase the range from 1350 to 1500, like nearly every other cast in the game. Pretty sure that smitecleric will not become totaly broken and atm it is just annoying without any reason.

Im very happy the devs decided to alter the hybrids the way they did, but there is so much more to do when it comes to fixing classes, mechanics, and skill lines. The Smite line is one of the worst out there and should have probably been prioritized before something like Thanes— especially since getting them to a (barely) playable state is as easy as a range increase.
I think we will see more changes come down the pipes, especially as population declines and the less “progressive” devs find the classes in their existing state are becoming stale.

insta aoe snare, insta aoe mezz, 9 sec castable stun, rr5 stun lock, 1650 range +10% range... - double damage smites..
etc...
