Envenom dots no longer tick on reapplication

Dots no longer tick on reapplication after that patch.
I don't wanna talk about preventing reapplication is good or bad. That is not my topic.
But the problem with current mechanic is, you basically lose 1 tick if you reapply lifebane to your opponent.
It's like a punishment, cuz losing at least 50 dmg(1 tick) means a lot to assasins.
Yes, you need to focus if your dot poison was resisted or not, if 20 seconds have passed, or if your opponent has used purge, etc.
But there are so many case that players can't thoroughly focus on 1v1 fight, cuz there can be adds or any situational change might occur.
And also, players can miss the resist effect, or just make a mistake while switching weapons.
There isn't any system in DAoC that punish players just because they did same thing twice.
Again, I'm not against preventing dot ticking on reapplication.
But current system is so broken and this need to be changed.
There should be a better mechanic.
For example, reapplying dots not affecting initial tick every 4 seconds, but lengthen duration only when reapplied could be a good change.
Not sure that exact mechanism is possible or not, but anyway, I'm sure there is better than this broken mechanic.
Reapplying dots at least shouldn't punish players, making players lose 1 tick.
