It had its drawbacks. It was a short aoe root and could screw up some snare immunities. But God damn it trucked people. Savages shouldn't be the only class with access to 1.44 GR styles.
As a Mercenary I hate Savages. Getting rocked by 240 MH ,80-100 OH, sucks. Although with the volume of classes that have access to Stoicism the AoE root wouldn't be horrible to deal with. There are reasons why VW's, Mercs and Champions are three of the consistently least played classes.
The reason mercs aren't played is Albion thinks they have to have 5 casters in every group... hib tanks in general don't get played cause if your not a animist druid eld chanter good luck getting so groups
See above (read: Reason(s) pl.) - You stated this previously and I partially agree. In a Caster group composition, obviously not many melee dps are going to be included, the only spot available would be for an Armsman/Mercenary to function in peels/guard. However, to suggest that the ONLY reason Mercenaries aren't played is due to a preconceived notion that Albion groups require at least 5 casters in every setup is a bit senseless.
