Stealther leveling.

The addition of eggs is nice but leveling a stealther is still a nightmare compared to other classes. The fact that grouping is extremely rare for us and soloing means having to kill even now only yel con or lower mobs makes the leveling past 30 really atrocious.

With the changes to item drops post 30 find weapons/armor is even harder as a solo making it an rng game if we will find a weapon to counteract the leveling gap.

Not sure what to suggest to change this, i'd hate to say put them on their own xp table or something cause i know that could be hard to program but something needs to be done.

My old method to alleviate this was going to be soloing a necro to 50 then transfering all the gained eggs to my scout for a boost post 30 but with the vault/trade changes on eggs this is no longer possible. Personally don't understand what the problem with this is. They don't give near as much experience as would be thought. You'd still need to kill close to if not the same amount of mobs to get levels.

I'd suggest then to revert the vault changes for eggs to allow for egg transfers to help alleviate leveling problems. Maybe link them to requiring exp earned if you don't want people grinding them with /xp off.

If you let people transfer eggs via the vault it will kill ALL leveling groups everywhere. People will just lvl up an ani/necro/bd to 49 and farm eggs for their toons. It was not a vault/trade change...it was a bug that needed to be fixed.

I understand the xp issue but it is basically an issue you accept as a stealther. It certainly would not be fair to make an xp table just for them.

Xp gains with the eggs here is light years better then what servers have done in the past. If you want an easy time leveling, pick a good lvling class. If you want to be able to stealth and gank and run solo in rvr, be prepared to xp solo with the consequences.

As i said you could link eggs to xp gains removing the possibility to grind with xp off at 49. Why should i accept a slower leveling experience then a necro? Why can't all classes be equaled out in some way? Even with eggs group xp is still lightyears faster then eggs. One egg turn in equates to around 1 mob of equal level in experience. This means you lose out on the bonus exp of killing and oj/red/low purp in a group, add in the group bonus and the possibility of a challenge mode group and eggs become trivial.

Take into consideration the 4-5 month stage of the server and soloing is going to be pretty much the only way, unless you have a good guild/friend who will pl you. So what happens to the new players that want to play stealther? Or those that are switching realms? Fuck them right?

Be social and get a guild to help you level a sneak. So many stealthers are anti social as hell

The class is pretty much built that way, there's no real point to being social when you aren't going to group in rvr. Even grouping stealthers are rare due to rp splitting.

It's definitely not easy, but I'm not sure anything can really be done. Best thing to do is be social, do the work, form the groups, etc. My shadowblade got 1-18 in a couple hours or so just from forming a decent group. If I have trouble finding groups going forward, I'll be taking more advantage of the collection tasks available... which honestly make a HUGE difference.
Mon 16 Jul 2018 1:50 AM by Aincrad
I suggest nothing is done to change this. Especially not something specifically for stealther classes. They have arleady provided great custom changes to help with xp.

Find a group to level or start one yourself. Group xp way better than solo anyways.

Sadly the collection tasks from my testing are attrocious, you get a set amount per turn in and that does not scale with level. It appears to be set by the lowest level in the range and you can only turn in 10 per item. The mobs to kill for most of these tasks are set to the highest levels in the range making them hard to collect especially for classes that can only really solo yellows or lower even now.

There are loads of problems with the soloing experience compared to the grouping. Being social is hard when majority of people outright refuse to group with a stealther class due to there limiting damage capability while leveling.

I do not think stealthers should get special leveling privileges nor do I think they should change anything just for them to lvl faster. Play something else if you want to lvl fast.

Why don't you play a stealther then, or maybe stop telling me how to play and instead offer constructive feed back instead of the obligatory "GIT GUD" response everyone seems to be saying in different ways.
Mon 16 Jul 2018 3:15 AM by Quik
How does my reply mean Git Gud in ANY way. Stop making crap up.

I said they should not do anything special for xp for ONE TYPE OF CLASS.

I will play a stealthier down the road as I always do and I will level him as I always have and I won't WHINE and complain when it happens. They level solo a WHOLE lot faster then a cleric/druid. I know about 10 stealthers right now who are quite happy with the eggs since it is now twice as fast for them to lvl.

Also, I see stealthers get groups ALL the time in game if you would try.
Mon 16 Jul 2018 3:22 AM by relvinian
I think we should double the egg drop rate.

See how we feel about solo after that.

Tweak it up or down.

Right now, even with eggs, solo xp still feels awful to me. At least when you compare it to group xp which is great.

Yours and everyone else's reply to change my class is a git gud statement. I don't like something about a classes limitations in a part of the game that means absolutely nothing to the game in any way then to annoy and bore people to death and your response is to change my entire playstyle because of it. I've leveled 2 scouts 2 infils 1 hunter and 3 sbs from live beta to cata and private servers. Always hated it, always felt it was the most boring and monotonous experience of my life. Stop trying to demean me for wanting it to be made easier especially considering it's literally the most useless feature of the game.

Grouping as a stealther right now might be common due to people testing and making new characters to try diffrent things out but once launch happens it will be super rare. Most people will have found a guild or will be back in that elitist perfect group setup trying to hit 50 super fast. Those of us who cannot play during prime hours except on the weekends are going to be shit out of luck and your response is to just say "suck it up" and "fuck you you don't deserve to level as fast because of your life choices". If soloing to level becomes the strongest then who the fuck cares? Leveling is leveling and it shouldn't matter really how fast one side is vrs the other since it has NO IMPACT ON THE GAME.
Mon 16 Jul 2018 3:31 AM by Quik
Compared to group, I would say doubling the xp value might work.

You need to be careful though, IMHO you should never be able to get more xp solo then 2+ people can get in a decent group. Grouping should always be a priority, but soloers should be close to help those who have very little play time.
Mon 16 Jul 2018 3:32 AM by Magesty
So you are being given XP items every level along with loads of RoG items (with procs!) making it easier to level solo than it has ever been on a classic setting and still want more? You want stealthers to be on a SPECIAL XP TABLE? I don't understand this sense of entitlement.

You're playing a solo class in a group-focused game and this is the trade off. It always has been. You get to turn invisible and avoid pretty much every fight you don't want at 50. Guess what? There are downsides.

You can find groups. You can start your own groups. Be social, be friendly, don't whine. It's not impossible to find people to play with even on a less desirable class.-- especially at the launch of a new server when everyone is out XPing.

Nah. Sorry but again no class should get special treatment. Eggs are doubling the xp rate and as Relvinian has asked, maybe increase the rate but that helps all soloers.

Stealthers should not get ANY special treatment. You choose to play the class knowing its limitations. Also, I don't see people not inviting after beta. Having a stealthier in your group still adds a 5% xp bonus and they are good dps. If you actually try you will get a group.

And what I am saying again, has NOTHING to do with getting gud. NOTHING. I don't care if you are good or bad, it means NOTHING. I am saying every class works within its limitations for leveling and xp gains. With campfires a stealthier soloing can actually level pretty good with eggs here. Or maybe, make a friend and have him duo with you.

Asking for a class to get special bonuses is not the way to go. You won't agree because you won't accept logic you just want special treatment.

You people need to go back to school and learn how to read, you seem to keep glossing over the fact that i did not specifically say that stealthers should be the only ones getting a boost. I mentioned changes that would affect everyone solo not just stealthers. I made this post titled as such because it mainly affects stealthers.

What do you think the eggs are for?

How about you actually let the staff see how the xp rate is now. They were JUST added so they need to judge how they do.

They may double it again who knows.

On the point of beta THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT OF THE POST. You see the sub tag? It says SUGGESTIONS, know what that means? It means i'm SUGGESTING that they make changes. Career Sneak here, and I honestly see the xp system as perfect. Yes solo takes forever, but eggs help that a ton. I've had no issue at all doing the collection tasks. They add a huge boost to leveling post 30. It's the nature of a classic type ruleset. I had a r5 and r5 inf on uthgard, and a r7 sb on genesis.

In time you will get 50. From there it's a non issue. Just be glad we have eggs and kill collection items to turn in.

That's not a "git good" statement either. Just grind it out and do the collection tasks. You will be 50 in 2-4 weeks of casual play likely.

We can't say how slow since /played doesn't work.

I am singling out this quote because in my opinion it best described the core problem here.

All classes cannot be equaled out because in Dark Age of Camelot they are supposed to be different. That means your choices in DAoC actually matter which in my opinion is of uttermost importance for the long term gameplay!

That being said:

I am soloing a Nightshade myself right now; I need to solo due to heavy RL restrictions (family and stuff).

So here is my suggestions to you:

Beginning with level 20 you can get Tireless 1 and Endu Pot 2 -> do it!

Try to get Dodger as high as possible by doing the BGs.

And finally: Use buff potions!

If you follow this advice and consequently farm kill task items, soloing will be... well, still not a bliss, lets be honest, but it will be well damn bearable!

Stopped reading this thread right after the post i quoted. Besides relvinians neverending QQ about XP - even i50 might be too slow for him - you just claim how hard leveling a stealther is, lightyears after release and such blabla. So, those changes wont affect you, right? Of course they will. You are talking about those poor players who will try to level a stealther weeks/months after release, when the first wave of players stopped leveling. What you really got in your mind is to profit from those changes right from the start.

You choose a class with many advantages. But you cant live with the downsides.

You choose to play a class that doesn´t depend on a group, ever. You choose to play a class that won´t group visible classes (if not needed to reach your goal). But you want to be treated like a group class. Find the mistake.

I'd take this man's advice. ^

Personally, almost every max level sneak I've ever had in DAoC I've either orchestrated groups to help move things along, or my guild helped me out because I'd already helped them out with so much. That worked for me. If people don't like that and want to be alone well, at least with collection quest AND eggs, soloing at times may not be the end of the world. And it's still beta, things may change even further.

When groups become scarce and getting a pl requires knowing people.

I am suggesting they just ramp up the eggs or change the solo xp mechanics to make it closer to grouping so those that are required to or choose to do not get left in the dust due to perfect group make-ups. Is it better? Yes. Is it still shite compared to focus groups? Hell yes. Why should i be gimped because my job forces me into a timezone where i cannot group. The most people online during weekdays during my playtime i've seen is 50-90. That's why i want changes to the solo experience, because i should not be fucked because i CANNOT find a group.

Yeah Relvinian's never ending qq about xp. You absolutely do not get me and you never have, whoever the hell you are.

I have made and re rolled on this beta about 6x. Do you think the purpose of beta testing is to get to 50? When I was on uthgard I deleted lots of toons, temped, 50, whatever. OK?

My entire purpose about commenting about xp in this beta is because the xp is too damn slow! Too damn slow for solo. Group xp is fine. Solo is too damn slow.

Your vomiting forth the old don't qq, don't whine, if you don't like it don't play excrement, belongs on the dead server. I'm trying to prevent another dead server. Much like I did during BETA during uthgard. I spotted the things which will kill a server and pointed them out.

When it comes to daoc servers either you are growing or you are dying. You need people to join. You need casuals. You need solos. You need everyone. If you have some sort of elite one way works nonsense you won't stay growing.

I wouldn't have even tried to level a stealther on Uth after the first few months due to the crap xp rate. I will however try out a few here, the egg system is a godsend. I can't believe people are asking for more. I just hope the eggs will be on live Phoenix too.

The trick is to start the stealther alt first. That first wave of people leveling at launch will let any class in their group. After a while people start to search for "optimum" setups for the higher levels. Early on it will be easy to join as melee DPS

This is a good idea but not a good solution for long term for the server.

What ends up happening then, suppose population drops or groups become harder to find?

You get the lvl 50 stealther, temped, mowing down the new players in the frontier zone, who are trying to xp. The 50 got their level and rps when the server was fresh and more populated and now they are eating all the young players.

That is why you always need fast fun experience for everyone. And that includes solo players.

It is not a poverty thing where there is only one way. You need a rich environment where you can succeed in more than one way.

Oh for sure. It's just the solution available to us at this time. Stealthers will always be behind other classes in terms of xp gain. So no matter where it stands, there will always be some form of "well I'm not leveling as fast as X class."

Every class/archetype has pros and cons.

My pac healer can't hide, 3 shot a caster, then disappear and wait for the next poor soul (and has no offensive dmg ability besides auto attack) but it was a piece of cake getting groups. And neither my healer or a sneak can hold a candle to the likes of a necro/animist when it comes to soloing PvE, but those classes have other challenges that maybe heals and sneaks don't have - particularly in PvP.

I'm not saying there aren't new solutions but I don't know how you would change the nature of things as they are. I know it's important for all play styles to get into the server but when it comes to XP, beyond Phoenix eggs and collection quests, I don't see what else can be done. Those 2 right there (along with awesome XP rates) already make things exponentially faster.

In one week I have a 22 sneak and a 50 healer (mixture of soloing and grouping). Granted I may have poopsocked a little for my own standards, but how much faster is it supposed to get? (I also work 50 hours a week)

I'm finding the eggs solo exp fine now mind if I ask what are the collection kill quests people are talking about? I heard that tasks are bugged and are they even implemented and up to what level? Are tasks and collection kill quests the same thing ?

Thanks for any info.

Are people still not grouping stealthers? Whenever I end up in a group - we just invite the largest variety of classes for the continued bonus to XP.

As for leveling - you would seriously have to redesign too much of the game if you wanted other classes to equivocate the leveling speed of Necros/Animists.

Either that or generate some sort of back end XP modifier for classes that level slowly when played solo that goes away when said class joins a group. I could perhaps get behind an idea like that.

Mid is grouping stealth - or at least from my experience so far.
