At start when i played the first rework of the Task system i enjoyed it, because it stretched the zergfest just a tiny bit over the hole taskzone.
After my 3 day breake by now, it broke my heart to see we have (like Raunz mentioned) instant Call of Duty DAOC without killstreaks.
The Flagporting brings massive Chaos to the game where it is already too fast just by the quantity of players.
When you port as Defender to the Center, the starting zones (CG/MC, Svasud/Yggdra, Sauvage/Snow) become meaningless for RVR. No chance for solos, stealthers, smallmen to predict where the enemy will come from and to pick your fight basing on correct enemy numbers. As 8men you cant ambush or intercept reinforcments to the taskzone. The borderkeep zones ARE DEAD be definition now. Same as the other zones - where no tasks are - are dead too. Wallfights in Emain are dead.
This instant Call of Duty respawn with "map changes" every 60 minutes has nothing to do with the game of 2002.
So here is my solution:
1. Remove Teleport for anyone to any flag - bring it back to normal
- the prolonged traveltime for Defenders gives Attackers the chance to have a less crowdy zone
- teleporting is even contributing to the nonfun zergfest
2. Strech the Zaskzone-Zerg by Adding a 2nd task
- at the time of the maintask ("Invade/Defend XYZ" bring a 2nd task i.e. "Raid Keep XYZ in Zone xy which is not mainzone"
- give it high reward (like 2-3k rps, 3k feathers for lord or smth) -> this will split the zerg because raiding and defending is still core of pvp of the game
- give an alternative to THE TASK ZONE, the only zone where anything goes at a time. we have 3 realms, at all time. not only THE ZONE
- high reward is okay since we already have RR9 players after 7 weeks of welfare, you boosted xp, keep boosting RPs as well then
You made a greate server, numbers give you still credit for that.
But sometimes changes go too far. By now many players are still in the game for creating their 3rd toon, or gearing their twinks, doing the 50th galla raid. But keep in mind that RVR was the endgame of DAOC ever since, dont breake it down.
