Hallo Staff,
hello fellow players,

I´d like to ask if we can debate if its neccessary to gate items behind a X amount of feahters or BP and additionaly behind an encounter.

I don´t questions the amount of currency but let me tell you that for me, as a full time employe and father of 2 kids, it is almost impossible to take part in raids.
I know you can buy both, but this would result in an insane amount of currency :-) whih you already need for sc anyway :-)
And raids arn´t that frequent then they were in the past.

So if you would rethink at least the necessity of the encounter. I would really appreciate it.

you do NOT, I say again do NOT have to SC anything after a year on this server, if you search the merchants you can find ROG drops or previously sc'ed items that will match your need at relatively low prices. I find 100% items sometimes for 100g 200g with great stats, you just have to play alittle longer with the right items to get what you want. I have all my toons capped except for maybe 1 resist with JUST ROGS from the merchants. 3p max on some toons, 5p on others, if you spend 100p on ANY toons, you are DUMB.

it's NOT that hard!

Dunno if I am dumb, but thats not what I asked.

I wanted to know if its necessary to gate those items behind X amount of BP/feathers and an additionally encounter. I just doubt for myself, that I will ever get the encounters I need, or would like to have to do the switch from thrust to slash inf. I have the BP´s but missing the encounter.

Why gate BP merchants behind a pve instance anyway?

Wy force players into pve?

Agreed...although a couple little search enhancements for the market explorer would be nice.

And again, you both might be right, but this is not what the topic or my question is about.

No plans on changing that. There are a lot of raids going on plus you always have the possibility to buy these items from other players that have the credit. With the introduction of the feather system & the credit system, we made it way easier than it it was back in the days to get these items. Guess many players already forgot, that without this QoL changes, there would only be those items ingame, that are actually dropping during a raid.

You need basically just one epic dungeon raid and then you have all the credits. After that you can farm feathers via RvR, DS, World Bosses or other Dungeons. So there is no further need to attend such an epic raid ever again.

In addition, you dont need any of those items for a decent Sc. Yes, I know everyone picks the chest from epic dungeons, but you could easily replace it with a crafted one and a crafted heal proc. Maybe, if you want the perfect Sc, very few things from those dungeons might be of help. But again, if you want to have a decent Sc with every stat, resists and skills capped, you dont need any of those items.

To sum it up, our current system is very friendly for casual players and we dont have any plans on changing things.

Can I just suggest three things:
1) Play casters (that's what I do). They are very cheap and very easy to equip. You don't need any encounter stuff and 50+ utility ROGs are easy to find. SCs as a whole are very cheap.
2) If you're a casual player, try to have as much fun as possible without wasting too much time on templates etc. I'm also guilty of thinking too much about this stuff and it takes a lot of fun out of the game. Especially if you read the forums, some people will always say that without the perfect weaponless template, playing the game is basically pointless. And that's simply not true. I'm currently thinking about finishing my champ, but the idea of spending 100p on a char is really putting me off (so easier said than done lol).
3) I'd focus on running with a bg. This will give you the time and space to develop your toon and you really don't need a perfect SC for this.

(But seeing that this is, again, maybe not what you were looking for: I'd still say that the PVE part is an integral part of DAoC. Hence, the server isn't "hiding" anything behind PvE gates - DAoC has *always* been a combination of PvE and RvR elements. Phoenix is actually the most casual player friendly version of DAoC without getting rid of the PvE element entirely).
