Fun solo (non-speed) caster: BD, SM, or animist?

Wanting to start on Phoenix, but been awhile since I last played DAOC, had a BD to rr11 on live back in the day.

I know not having speed will be a big no-no, but honestly, I just want to play one of these 3 classes, solo in RvR even if it means I get killed a lot. Will probably do DF, docks, bridges, etc. Just saw SM pets got intercept nerf, did that affect it much? Obviously loved playing a BD, and love watching videos on Animists setting up camp and drawing solos into it on a bridge or near a keep

Any suggestions? Thanks!

It was never 90%. It was around 70-75%. The intercept rate nerf is not a big deal. It's that the pet takes 3 times more damage than before.

An interesting way to spin it. The pet was taking a third of what it was supposed to take, and now takes the same damage as everyone else.

It's still a caster class that melee wont intentionally go anywhere near due largely to the intercept ability, which is now how the rock-paper-scissors triangle of MMOs is supposed to work. Every other class that has intercept gets it with a one minute cooldown, the fact that SM pets don't have that restriction coupled with the crazy high intercept rates is incredibly stupid.

I don't see what intercept from other classes has to do with this? Intercepting pet is what makes SM unique. Why does it have to follow the mechanics of tank class intercept?

I am not spinning anything. Before the nerf the pet was taking x damage. After the nerf the pet is taking 3x damage. Supposed to or not is irrelevant to it being a huge nerf.

I find it odd that they say it was taking 1/3 less damage than it was supposed to when the previous patch note regarding intercept back in 4/22 was to reduce the damage the pet takes from intercept. Did they over tweak it? It didn't feel that much different before and after that patch.

Animist so that I have more casters to fight.

In all honesty, though, I think animist would be the hardest one to solo, but probably fun.

Animist is by far the hardest to solo on.
