All the script bans

So I see a lot of bans for macro/scripting, all of them resulting in a 2+ week ban and deletion of all characters. Are these people all using scripts for unattended gameplay i.e. botting? Because if not I feel like the punishment is a bit too severe? Not been banned myself and I don't know any of these people but I just get scared that me or someone I play with will get wrongly accused and banned, maybe even for something they weren't aware of.

Wouldn't it make more sense with a warning/1-2 week ban rather than the deletion of all characters?

Just my 2 cents.

Doesn't make sense to have a week ban and no chars deleted when you knew scripting meant deletion of all chars, no. I'm sure the punishment matches the crime in this case, and devs won't give you details to persuade you of that .

The recent uptick on those bans is almost exclusively unattended / scripted farming. The reason for the deletion is quite simple, it's unlikely that we will quickly / always find people when they are scripting and if people were to only lose one or 3 days after potentially having scripted for weeks already there would still be an incentive to do it as it would still be worth it.

For the unattended game play I don't disagree whatsoever, bots should always have their shit deleted and I wouldn't even see a perma ban as harsh punishment. But something like having a 100 ms delay in their script for whatever reason shouldn't result in a deletion of ALL chars imo, and maybe it doesn't? I have no clue. To me it just sounds harsh when it says banned for macro/script.

I'm not sure I agree a 1-3 day ban would not make people re-think if it's worth it to be honest, they would for sure know that they're on the radar and I'd wager the majority would stop doing it. I feel like a good part of the people who get banned aren't even aware of what the rules exactly mean, I've seen people asking for help with their scripts and there has been all sorts of delays/loops in there, not sure one would do that if you knew it was bannable and risk deletion of all chars.

I don't understand the issue...

Pheonix has a set of rules that has been talked about on these forums since it started and if you do any reading at all you will see what happens if you cheat.

Account deleted period.

No apology needed except by the person trying to cheat.

Then I guess you haven't read the rules nor the bans because account doesn't get deleted. Anyway, never go full retard.
