With them being worth so little, hauling to West Downs or Callie to turn in 5-9 items that don't even give you half a level at 30 something doesn't make any sense.
Allow collection turn ins to trainers.

It is obviously not near enough, hehe. 
But yes, these two examples are near, west downs is a bit more far away but with better horse routes you are there in no time.

Speaking of horse routes, why is it that horse routes don't go both ways here? If I remember correctly if you could go from one place to another on horse then you could go back the same way. It seems that here the routes are all random and you can not necessarily always ride back to where you came from.

I definitely remember horse routes not going back in the old days.
