Ho, i'm new to the server but i've played daoc a bit years ago.
Yesterday i rolled my First chat and or Is a theurg. I've noticed there Is no so much info about this class and would like ti receive some tips from veteran players.
1) which spec Is best for low level exp and rvr (low battleground) 2) which kind of pet should I use in rvr? Should I use different Pets considering the enemy classes? Like stunner pet on meele, ice on caster etc? 3) im leveling full earth and i noticed ice pet looks stronger than the other two.. also if earth pet Is higher lvl than ice pet. Is that normal? 4) what about my rvr final spec? 5) whats my role in rvr? How should i play? 6) at 50 where do i get my final Gear?
I know these are a lot of question but i was younger when played daoc and didnt get that much info rvr.
Any guide and tutorial that helps me master this class would be very appreciated.
Yea I know im an interrupter but still noob and would like to know which build (for exp and when 50 for RvR) and which type of pet spam on that type of enemies.
This question is asked constantly in /advice and for good reason. Basically, everyone disagrees on how to best play spec a Theurg at 50.
Understanding your pets - Ice Pets + Level 25 and 40 pet nuke just as hard, but differ in how often they are resisted and how much HP they have.
- Earth Pets + Earth pets run faster and faster with each iteration, which means you can get a pet onto a target quicker the higher you go, most people think the 32 pet is fast enough. They're HP is roughly the same, dead in 1 hit.
- Air Pets + Have the highest HPs, surviving 2-4 hits and of course they have the chain stun. But they are very slow to the target.
Leveling Strategy - From level 1 - 25 you should just dump all your points into ice. (Maybe go earth or air if you want to hit up Thidranki, ice pets are hard to stay in range). - At level 26, you'll be very valuable to groups, so if you can get groups you should switch back and forth from Ice for solo and full earth for PBT when grouped. - At level 42.5, you can now have a split 35 earth/25 ice. This allows you to have the level 35 PBT from earth, while also allowing you to have the strongest nukes from your ice pets. This is a good build for both solo and group play. However, if you're in a bomber group where you all stack on top of each other, it's better to have stronger earth pets, as you don't need to break formation to get some range like you do for your ice pets.
Leveling RAs - First get Tireless - Then get Longwind - Then get Serenity 2 - Then get MCL 1 (the 10 seconds or so that you have to wait to use your MCL is not as useful when chain pulling)
PvE Leveling group Depending on the strength of the group, you can: - Do nothing, just be a PBT bot. - Be the puller, you're still a PBT bot, but you have the instacast weapon speed debuff and not much else to do, so monitor health/power of group mates, while also monitoring the health of the mobs so you can get a good chain pull pace going. - Rotate air pets across multiple targets. This gives you what I like to call an "AoE stun over time". - If you don't need the stuns, because of strong group, rotate earth mobs across multiple targets, when range isn't possible. - If you can stand back at a distance, rotate your ice pets across multiple mobs for maximum dps.
Note that you'll be draining power really fast running PBT, so you can really only sustain about 3 pets per pull when chain pulling. I would avoid completely ooping yourself every pull, especially in RvR zones, as you can be very important for earth pet zerging ambushers, dramatically increasing your chance of survival
Builds - Most people says earth is for RvR/PvE group play, air is for solo RvR, ice is for solo PvE. I think this is overly reductive.
*note when i say "fastest pet", I mean the pet runs to the target the fastest.
48 Earth/24 Ice OR 48 Earth/24 Air This gives you the fastest pets, and highest pulsing blade turn. You play by rotating through back line (mages/healers) enemies and spamming earth pets on them. Your pets are cleared relatively easily as they have super low health, but they are on top of and interrupting people very quickly. You of course should always have your PBT pulsing, and you can help CC with either AoE mez (with caveats) or AoE root.
45 Earth/29 Ice OR 45 Earth/25 Ice/Rest Air This gives you second fastest pets, while maintaining highest PBT, and additionally it gives you 25 ice pet which hits just as hard as the 40, but is resisted more and has lower health. The play style for this would be to cast both earth and ice pets on targets to get melee and range interrupts.
Tri-spec 35 Earth/25 Ice/32 Air This build allows you to situationally use the best pet for the job. Again, the ice pet has highest nuke, you have the best air pet, and your earth pet is still fast enough to chase down sprinters. You still also get a decent aoe mez and a decent aoe root. You also get the 8sec PBT which is what most people (even people with 6sec PBT) run anyways, because of how hard your power drains.
Air specs I haven't played with air specs yet, so I can't give too much info. Just looking at the char planner. You of course get the 45 DD, which is the highest DD you can get on the Theurg, and you get the 38s AoE mezz at 49 air. These could be highly valuable if you do less full group RvR.
