Eastern European players?

I'm moving from California to Ukraine in a week, and had a few questions. What is the Eastern European community like (hours, population, etc.)? What is the internet connection like in cities like Kyiv? If I end up having to pay for my own internet, what are the recommended internet providers? Anything else I should know, game related or even non-gaming related? Thanks in advance.

Lol thanks? I love my state but yeah the gun laws are ridiculous. Off-topic here but the gun laws in California were originally enacted by Republicans in the 60s or early 70s (they had their ridiculous reasons I won't go into here). Unfortunately the Democrats are just as ridiculous when it comes to their interpretation of gun laws (also, I will not get into why here). For the record, I am a proud independent socially liberal fiscally conservative person.

Back on topic! Not looking for a wife lol, I'm leaving Los Angeles and going to Kyiv for work. I chose Kyiv because the cost of living on a teacher's wage is much better than other countries, including Czech Republic and Poland. Plus, I'm going for the weather! It's too damn hot in Los Angeles since the weather has shifted globally.

Central European and Eastern European players let me know how things are game-wise and real life-wise. Thanks!

Can't speak regarding any advice for Ukraine but Europe times are from what I hear way more active. Eastern Europe is fine (Finland here), but sometimes raids happen a little too late for my taste, so central would probably be a bit easier but you'll manage.

Ukraine is a wonderful country! And ukrainian women are best wives!
Friendly people, nice language, tasty meals, interesting history, culture and traditions. But due to hard political situation is quite dangerous for foreigners - especially scram. I wouldn't visit night clubs and bars, and if you are there - take care about your drinks. Its very common, ami or european tourists and specialists get sended to sleep and kidnapped .
Don't visit the south-east of the Ukraine - there is a real war. If you meet radical elements over there you could very simple take a part in international provocation.
Provider in Kijiw will be perhaps KIJIWSTAR. Its a famous and most common provider over there, but ask there your colleges better.
If you need additional information - questions via PM are welcome please.

Thanks for the information. I'll be sure to keep my head on a swivel in the bars. I've never been much of a nightclub person because the music usually sucks in nightclubs. Regarding the war in the southeast and in Crimea I am definitely keeping my distance. I've already spent a decent amount of time in a conflict zone (Afghanistan) and have no plans to vacation in one.

Out of curiosity, why move to the Ukraine / Eastern Europe and not "anywhere else in the world" ? Or do you have family there to consider going ?

1) Low cost of living allows me to save more on a teacher's salary
2) The school I I am teaching with is paying for my room/flat (adds more to 1)).
3) It's got a colder climate than Los Angeles, which is better for me because I got a heat stroke a few years back when I was in the Army. It is literally regularly in the 100s Fahrenheit (37+ Celsius) here in Los Angeles these days, so one power outage during the hot days can literally kill me now.
4) I'm delaying my acceptance to graduate school to get more teaching experience and pay down some debt before I incur even more debt for tuition (GI Bill doesn't cover all of it.)

I have zero family in Europe. My family is all here in the Southwestern United States and Southern California.
