Suggested change for delve mechanics

I love the QoL additions you guys have made to the game, and would like to suggest a big one. The one thing I do more than anything else in a DAoC session is delve stuff. I delve to see how many charges are left in a potion or item, and every time I get a drop - armor, weapon, or jewelry - I delve what is equipped and then I delve the new item to compare them. The little square box that comes up when I right-click something disappears when I click anywhere on the screen, but the big rectangular delve detail box that comes up when I click "Info" on the little square box does not (I think it should). Thus, I have to click on that tiny little x on the right-hand corner of the big box to make it disappear. Even if it was not a pain for my 68-yr-old eyes and hand, it would still be a hassle. So why not make the big box disappear with a click like the little square box does ? Alternately, make it disappear with the ESC key, or change the ESC key so it is either a "clear all open boxes" key, or have it clear open boxes one at a time, popping back up the stack of open boxes. I request that you guys please give serious thought to some way to clear that big delve info box easily. This would save me more time and hand/wrist stress than any other single (and simple) change I can think of.

Thanks !!!!!

I too hate that the info box stays open and no alternate method of closing exists

I don't mean for this to sound patronizing but I think it's awesome that you're 68 years old and play this game. I guess it's because growing up there weren't many middle-aged adults playing games and as gaming has grown in popularity more people continue to play games as they grow older. Just for that I'd encourage the devs to give this guy what he asks for.

I especially like the ESC key idea and have noticed myself every once in a while hitting ESC expecting it to close a window just from habit with other things.

Another idea that would be convenient is the ability to open up a second delve window to be able to compare items.

Can anyone beat 68 years old?

Thanks, Azuell, for the kind words !!!

I was 50 when the game came out in 2001, a few months after my wife died. I had quit my consulting job and was living in my sister's basement, mired in deep depression and self-pity. I had read about DAoC, and went to WalMart the day after it came out and bought it (I still have the map of the 3 realms that came in the box, as well as the User Manual). I have said more than once that DAoC saved my life, although I'm sure that the case could be made that it actually *ruined* my life, due to it being responsible for my addiction to MMPORGs (DAoC was my first, followed by WoW, LotRO, iRO, and SWToR, to name the biggest ones).

Although DAoC was my first MMPORG, I was already a serious game-a-holic. My first game was Adventure on an IBM 360 Mod 50 mainframe (I was 31), followed by gaming on an Apple ][. When the IBM PC came out, my employer moved from designing systems for Apple to the IBM PC world, and my gaming made a similar move. I remember being overjoyed when the first BASIC compiler came out (TurboBASIC ?), because I was then able to take games that were so slow as to be almost unplayable in normal BASIC, which is interpreted, and compile then, which produced an executable game that was many times faster. I went down into the abyss of addiction forever when Doom came out. I remember my wife walking by once while I was playing it and mumbling, "I think you love that f'ing game more than you love me"....how to reply to that...lol

And here I am in another century, still playing DAoC (and Diablo 2 and Starcraft, btw). Life is good.....

On a serious note, do you mean change to just the usual races that that particular class can be, or to any race at all in other words any race/class combo?

No clue what you are talking about. I think you replied to the wrong thread. I have said nothing about changing races, just about closing the big delve box.

Still waiting on a reply about changing races..... :

Yes, I got Remastered as soon as it came out and played thru all 3 regular campaigns and all 3 Brood War campaigns. Now I have the cartoon version and am doing all 6 campaigns again. Love me some Starcraft !!!!!!!!!!!!
