Carbomb is the man and I don't necessarily agree with the name change, but Ireland and Car Bombs have a long, sad history together. I could see some people being offended. Just for context:

With the same reasoning (an object or an action) can be considered offensive to just about anyone.
the style Garrote, could be considered offensive to Spanish people; since the tool was used to execute people up till late in the 20th century...
the style Skull Breaker, could be considered offensive because it describes a deadly process
far-fetched to be considered offensive, surely. But so would be car-bomb. I don't know the guy in question - but if such a name is being considered offensive you can probably find dozens of people with "offensive names".
