you arent hitting the enemies with a wet noodle if you play merc, the difference in damage is just too good just from my experience on skald, if paladins slams me I dont have to purge he will maybe do 40-50% in the best case with 2h specc. If a merc slams me and I dont purge I am either dead or below 30% no matter what specc he is. (well except if heal procc goes off or he misses a few times but not very likely)
