Is it possible to use sound mods?

Hey there,

Back when I played DAoC, I used a sound mod from Insomniax that I cannot seem to get working with the Phoenix launcher. I got the graphics of the game looking fantastic, but I absolutely loathe the sounds for spells in general. I feel like they are NES level. Is there any way I can use my own sounds, or get the Insomniax mod from back in the day working?

Thanks in advance.

nice coincidence, a similar question popped up in the german forum just yesterday.

From Rules:
4. Client Modifications
You may not modify any part of the Dark Age of Camelot client. This includes but is not limited to:
Any hardware or third-party software, altering movement speed of your character, revealing positions of enemy players (as Radar), Jump-Hacks, Client mods that change weather pattern, fog, terrain, or object positions.

Soundfiles are not explicitly mentioned, but imo it is not allowed as it would be abusable and checking if alterations are just simple qol or abusive cheats is hard to do.

For example:
Changing the SOS sounds to a 20sec soundfile that counts 12 11 10 in the middle and 3 2 1 at the end to give you timers for SOS1 and SOS2.
Changing DOTs sounds to a soundfile that reminds you to redot after a certain duration
Changing TWF dmg sounds to an announcer screaming "TWF MOVE AWAY" etc...

(i am just brainstorming here, i am sure people can come up with far worse applications that give even bigger ingame advantages)

You need only swap out the audio files
Make sure you're replacing .wav with .wav and .mp3 with .mp3
You can use Audacity to convert/resample as needed

It's also a good idea to match the duration of the audio being replaced but not doing so won't prevent it from playing
