Alchemy needs to be redone

Listen, I get it. You want people to be in large groups doing epic dungeons (tweaking our Feather System to encourage more BG Style raiding versus joining a full group to just farm Feathers ). I prefer solo or small group play myself. As an Alchemist, unlike Tailor, Fletcher, Armorsmith, Weaponcrafter, (or even Spellcrafter) you are going to force me to go on a 4-5+ hour raid just to be able to make the 'qol' pots available in my tradeskill line. No other craft requires as much money to LGM, nor does any other craft require drops which can only be gained by doing an Epic Dungeon.

Change the currency for Alch to something more reasonable, or back to what it was on live. Alternately, make all lvl 51 player crafted items also require the playstyle you are pushing by requiring Phoenix Tears. It's like ToA all over again, requiring everyone to join BG's. Look how well that turned out.

EDIT: I have no problem with feathers for Dragon/TG items, etc. You need to do the dungeon anyways, I get it. Lifetap proc? I'll do without it. A Lvl 40 10 use regen potion requires a 4-5hr raid? Why?

You don't have to strictly do raids to get feathers. From the announcement:
Where do I get these feathers?

Feathers can be found inside Epic Dungeons (Galladoria, Tuscaren Glacier & Caer Sidi), Epic Zones (Sheeroe Hills, Dartmoor & Malmohus), all RvR Zones (open World and Dungeons) and in SI Dungeons (Tur Suil, Fomoria, Krondon, Avalon City, Trollheim and Iarnvidur's Lair)

Which mobs drop feathers?

Most high level mobs will drop feathers such as:
- Dragons
- Bosses in Epic Zones / Dungeons
- Even trash mobs level 60+ leading up the the bosses will drop a small fixed amount.

Also they seen to drop in Keep takes. I have gotten 20 so far from thidranki

From the announcement today:
"- We will begin looking at tweaking our Feather System to encourage more BG Style raiding versus joining a full group to just farm Feathers. We didn't build the system to have players go kill the dragon one time to get credit and then farm Feathers in DF to just buy the item from the merchant."

We'll need more clarification, but I interpreted today's announcement as they're going to bump raid feather gain up rather than lowering current feather rates.

I kinda thought they were building a system to run a raid once to get credit and then I could farm DF for feathers

I mean understandably running more Raids should VASTLY increase your feather per minute ability, but honestly putting aside 4 hours on euro time to run a raid is extremely difficult... unless they offer distract the wife and kid services????

You are able to buy the ingredients (Feathers exchanged to Phonix Tears), when you dont want to join BG´s.

Do you need to buy Tears to make someone a MP AF51 cloth set? Weapons? To complete your template with Spellcrafting? Why do Alchs need to?

They mentioned they wanted high end usable items to require feathers to keep PvE content alive. The need for feathers will be constant.

Feathers were introduced as a way to make PvE raids or rather the "raid progression" a little less random and give players a sense of working towards a goal (an item, for example). This is also why we are not too keen to have players simply farm their feathers on trash mobs as this would essentially undermine that whole premise (motivating raids). Some is fine, for example to get your personal potion supplies, but not on any larger scale that would help you get endgame gear.

Introducing feathers as a means to buy rare alchemist ingredients is actually one critical way to drain feathers from the game and prevent that system to collapse on itself.

So much for the "game design" perspective.

Clearly, feathers are desirable and to be fair, they were very easily obtained during the first weeks of beta. It is only natural for players to have a sense of entitlement towards them and the loot/potions they buy. But please keep in mind that making them too abundant would devaluate the raid aspect of the game and the items that you can obtain there. Also, the "QoL" pots are actually the 10 charges potions. The larger charges are "QoL-extra" if you will. They are not required to be successful on our server. And as with everything desirable, it needs to be worked for.

Now, as an alchemist you are in no way forced to farm feathers; you can buy the tears from players - supply and demand will dictate the prices here. if feathers are abundant, prices will be low - if they are rare, they will be higher - increasing the likelihood of more people farming them to make money, thus bringing down the price eventually. Otherwise, you can also get a fair amount of feather supplies from killing only a few bosses; and we may introduce feathers into RvR (e.g. relic lords or similar). And alchemy was an obvious choice for feather recipes as we didn't want to mess with any "essential" crafting products but only very optional nice-to-haves, like stuff that didn't exist in 1.65 and would provide a nice, balance-neutral incentive.

I think the feather cost is highly needed because these endo and buff pots need to be a luxury, they have made some classes sub par to having in a group enough as it is, dont need them to be easily obtained
