If a revert is out of the question, could we at least meet in the middle somewhere?

Id still vote for revert, this change just hurts the server.

Agreed. The ROG loot salvages for 3 bars instead of the correct 5/10/15/etc, so the old loot table drops were the only way to actually make money from farming. Now that it is reduced to <10% of what it was, farming now takes a rediculous amount of time.
Income is the problem.
Possible income fixes:
1) buff rvr gold from kills or rvr tasks
2) increase salvage value of ROG items
3) revert changes to loot drops

Guess the only thing left now is selling xp loot and farming green mobs for their sell loot/gold and the rogs to salvage. Quite a shame I only just recently started farming in the dragon zones for salvage.

Sounds like the Hib nerf was needed since AFAIK there weren’t lvl 50 mobs in Alb dropping 10/15 bar salvages, but it should have stopped there. I don’t know why they made the ROG drop salvages so small instead of just reducing the drop rates of those in the first place, too. Just what people want...to have to spend more time mindlessly farming mobs to fund their PvP!

You know what would make this drop rate nerf less painful? Increase the duration of pots. I don’t know why they refuse to budge on this. Having to rebuff minimum every 10 minutes is getting old. Couple that with making tens of thousands of feathers worth of items totally useless is really making me think about giving live another look after a 8 year or so absence...

I agree that the drop rate nerf was too severe. A middle ground is necessary.

Just spent one hour in Llyn Barfog and a total of THREE weapons dropped that gave me 2 metal bars each. Someone needs to get their head out of the their backside and return drop rates to what they were. If you want to slow down the drop rates of ROG be my guest, but items that are only worth salvaging is the only way some peeps can make decent gold on this server. This server was meant to bring the game back to the way it used to be. Well now your doing EXACTLY what ruined the game after that. Keep it up and free or not your going to loose players.

The problem for me ─ and others as well, I'm sure ─ is that I'm already strapped for time as it is. The more time it takes to farm, the less inclination I have to play, since I primarily have farmed to be able to gear up my other characters to be able to compete in RvR against some of the more dedicated players. I know those players should have an edge on me anyways, just due to how much time they've invested in their characters, for sure. But this change reduced my already short sessions' income down to a trickle and puts me further out of reach of being able to enjoy endgame RvR.

Now when I have free time, deciding to play Phoenix is a less appealing option since it's significantly less rewarding. And that's a bad feeling, because I really enjoy a lot of the QoL changes that the Phoenix dev team has made. I still think DAoC is the best MMO in history, and Phoenix has reinvigorated my love for the game again, but this change makes it feel like it's now out of reach for more casual players.

TL;DR: If the Phoenix dev team wants to drive away casual players, then this change succeeds in doing that. But the end result is that everyone loses once the community starts to dwindle.

well you prolly wont find green mobs for 50 with a good spot where xp items are worth anything anymore, so I would rather say you can still make 2-3p farming one hour depending where you farm, dragonzones where great for anis but its prolly better to use something like shaman and chain pull 10-20 mobs in some pvp areas where they are quite dense

Whats the purpose of having fast caping lvl50 when you then have to farm for hours to be able to effort your SC?

Selling xp items on a server with population circling the toilet bowl will be interesting. The power of salvage is you don’t need a buyer, a group or even full concentration to achieve.

should still make some money and people usually get some investment back from npcs if you farm the right items, but yes it maybe isnt an option if the pop goes below 500 but I doubt farming platin is the biggest issue then

Prices for everything will drop massively though, because money is going to disappear from the economy now that you can't properly farm money from salvage.

A massive deflation will hit soon, and xp items will cost maybe a quarter of what they do now, max.

Edit: so yes, either roll back the change, or meet somewhere in the middle. I agree that farming 20p/hour is over the top, but 500g/hour can't be the solution. This game is almost 20 years old, we're all in our 30s and 40s, we don't want to farm PvE 30 hours a week.

500/hour? Are you killing stuff?

The devs have considered that mid have the least effective (solo) farming class and with this nerf - plus the shield aura and the pets one - now it's required to farm for a week 24h (guessing) to get all the money needed to raise, for example, alchemy...

It's not only a question of the prices between player if the prices of the reags from the merchants are the same in all the realms...

What I cannot understand is why this -massive amount of- change are required now, when who can spend many hours online have already farmed all the money/mats needed for everything and who have a job and a family and have a limited amount of time to play are now more penalized than the others.

What I want say about this, in the end, is that I'd want to thank all the ppl involved into this project, but I have chose to play this new server (instead another with a more solid game-bug/net/server-code) for it's particular frendly approach of the character development and this changes (who can be easily evaluated during the beta test phase) are frustrating me - and not only me I guess - very much.

What sucks the most is losing the incentive to even load up the game. Between the disconnects (admittedly a problem because of a DDOS that’s beyond the devs’ control) and the added time to farm, it makes it so much slower to progress, it’s unbelievable. This nerf was way more invasive than it should be; and though it may eventually be solved by deflation, who knows how long that will take to become effective. A change like this should’ve at least been gradually applied, if it is really necessary at all. This just threw the realms’ economies into turmoil with no real recourse other than to wait it out and hope it fixes itself. But by the time that happens, who knows how many people will have left. Then the deflation solution may not even happen since the supply of pots/craftables will inevitably shrink.

Please, devs, reconsider this change so that Phoenix can continue to thrive.
