Game crashes to desktop when zoning/character change

Since the patch when I change/teleport to a different zone or try to change characters the game will crash to the desktop 100% of the time. Have asked others in game and they said they experience this only a small percentage of the time.
I have tried reinstalling the game, reinstalling the launcher, deleting the launcher files(that were outside of the daoc folder for some reason), deleting the files from my documents, and adding the game to the ignored folders on windows defender firewall.
I am at my wits end trying to fix this as I the free time I have is limited and can make playing the game quite irritating.
Any help with this situation would be much appreciated.

With the recent server troubles don't be so hasty wih the reinstalls

I have a thread thats nearly exact to yours lol. Never figured it out. Grabbed an older laptop and after figuring out some of the other patcher issues i am finally able to play again. The only thing i want to try on my newer laptop is creating a new user in Windows with administrator rights.

I've had the crash while zone/ after character select on my old laptop a few times but it isn't persistent.
