A Simple Idea

Hi I'm Razork and I'd like to propose something nice for the server, I imagine that I'll be looked at with bad eyes and will turn up the nose, but like all of you I'm a fan of daoc from the dawn and there are things that I've always been sorry not to see in the servers where I played. I'm a fan of TOA, I think the best expansion in the history of all the MMOs released, unfortunately I agree with many of you that TOA has impacted too much on the classic style of daoc, and I also fully agree that we say that TOA has shaken a lot the feelings of those classic players accustomed to a slower style and more difficult to play, but it remains to say that TOA has been a splendor even if unfortunately has changed things, in my opinion, in a completely wrong way, I try to explain.
Try to think of the best thing about daoc, 90% of you will say for sure and I understand the answer, will answer "RVR" I agree with you, the RVR or endgame are absolutely one of the most beautiful things about DAOC even if I personally think that the PVE and the construction of the character is absolutely the most beautiful thing, for PVE and character construction, I mean the phase of search for items from the MOB and the joints that you have to do to be able to have a character to its full potential, reaching the CAP of all statistics, Unfortunately this thing has always been underestimated and has always been wrong in simplifying everything by giving the opportunity to reach the CAP of everything in a very simple way, perhaps for some class slightly more complicated but in any case all achievable, this simplicity I think has always ruined the beauty of DAOC because at the end of the day when everyone has everything, we will all be equal and the skill of a person in 'mixing objects will not be rewarded as it should be, I also think that this simplicity has split the pve from pvp, making pve a compulsory mechanics up to a certain point, lowering the value at the level of utility. The introduction of the ROG item has made that there was a minimum of randomness in what you get from the MOB and I find this fantastic choice, even if it loses value when with ROG objects not too high in level you can still achieve what you want to achieve, so what would be the sense of ROG objects with a high level of object utility? The nice thing is that the introduction of ROG items was better handled at the level of drop and difficulty of the MOB that will go to doping the ROG items you could create something even more special with regard to the mechanics of DAOC, now unfortunately or as the impression that it is almost too simple to get to have a ROG item of medium level that will still be enough to close a TEMPLATE, 90% of the bosses are feasible with minstrel / pet and cleric or necromancer cleric and teurgist, the remaining part of the mob is zerged continuously until it will no longer need the purpose of the MOB that will go to drop the ROG items.
Without losing too much in the question ROG item, what I wanted to propose, would simply be the increase of all CAP, yes I know you will call me crazy and I understand this, but in fact if you think about it well, and I apologize to all those who like me have spent time and money to do TP on more characters, if you think about it well it would become all cooler and more fun, because we can mix pvp and pve in a much more solid way, you would do what the mithyc has never done, or make the game long-lived without having to exit an expansion after another, but above all we will give a sense to the PVE that will not be a simple transaction before the PVP, but in reality will be interconnected because it will be a continuous growth in search of the perfection of the character, I find this interesting thing and I would like to give you examples..

Things to increase

Stats : 101
Resist CAP : 29
Hits CAP : 400
Power CAP : 50

if there can be a possibility to introduce AF as a statistic in the ROG items, I would also consider that, but not necessary in case of the CAP at 50.

What happens if we increase the CAP without bombarding DAOC of artifacts and so on item TOA astral ML10, we create the randomness of the TP and with it we open several avenues that will allow the player himself on what to convey their points in order to raise the level of customization.
If we make it impossible to cap everything then it will be the player himself to decide what he considers most appropriate to raise based on his style of play, the demands of the group (PVE - PVP) or based on his level of skill in creating the TP. Let's be clear that such a change would bring a change to the PVE, or there must be more dungeons type DS, the named around the world will be made a moment more difficult and personally nerfing even the zerg mass decreasing the possibility of drop ROG high level. All this would not impact on the RVR in such a drastic way, it will be all exponential not change the engagements or ways of approaching in a clash, but certainly will create new combinations. Another point in favor would be the impact that the ROG items would have on the market, because it would not stagnate saturated with items that will never be sold.

For those who have come to read up to this point, I would like to thank you for allowing me to express a thought, I will be happy to read your feedback and in case answer you.
And as my grandfather always said, if at the end of the day we all have to be the same, then it would be better to play directly on an instant 50 server or at WOW.

TDLR:

He's suggesting to increase the attributes of characters:
Stats : 101 instead of 75
Resist CAP : 29 instead of 26
Hits CAP : 400 instead of 200
Power CAP : 50 instead of 25

He's also suggesting the adding of AF bonus to RoGs capping at 50.


My opinion:
Interesting idea that would cause people to re-template and I think that's what the devs are trying to avoid. A lot of what I'm hearing is some people just get to play maybe an hour or two a day so investing that time into PvE doesn't sound fun to them. Getting a character lvl 50 and geared up doesn't take very long and can be completely done in rvr with the task. I've heard complaints that people don't know where to start and they toil over gear for hours in order to be good enough to compete. At this point in time of the server I don't think making everyone re-gear their characters is going to fly especially since everyone is on edge over the buff changes.

I hope one day, yes, that they do this exact thing. Hopefully going forward big changes like these they do a straw poll and leave it open for a day to see what people think before and after the change.

I started to take him up on his edit, but I think your TLDR is good, so I will leave it as the go-to.

Some problems:
1) Increasing the stats would make the end-game more FPS like in terms of necessary reactions. I think the game already suffers from this at end-game, where you're fighting with the interface to perform well. The game doesn't appear designed to be as fast paced as it gets (nearsights nearly a only a second cast speed).
2) This would shift the game towards a Diablo/PoE type of game. Nothing wrong with that game style in itself, but it may not be what many people look for when they play DAOC. The idea of having a template and the character being "set" is satisfying for many.

i dont even know how to begin with to do a Shadowblade template with those stats. it would render the whole ROG "balance" useless. i had to get like 80 Util per ROG item for my Shadowblade.

1 Resist is 2 Util, 54 Util in total
1 Stat is 1 Util, 26 Util per Stat
4HP is 1Util, 25 Util in total
1Pow is 2 Util. 50 Util in total
AF i dont know.

typical caster: 3 Stats, Pow, Resists: 182 Util increase for the Template.
Shadowblade: 4 stats, Resists: 158 Util increase.

My Hadowblade juwelry has 618,3 Util at the moment. thats a mean of 77.29 Util per item. as i have complete MP armor, this additional utility would have com from ROGs alone. that would result in a mean of 97,04 Utility per jewelry item. most TG raids i have attended to dont have a single ROG item such high, its seldom to hit that number or higher.

Is it really that hard to template SB's? Or are you trying to do something like weaponless?

My NS template only has 3 jewelry items over 56 util in it. SI Neck, Worm Dex Bracer, and a 62 Util RoG Cloak. Besides the Galla chestpiece the rest of my gear is MP spellcrafted stuff, weapons included. (my spellcrafted weapons are both 71 util as well) And I don't swap out a piece of gear with +envenom to poison my weapons. Its capped in the template.

That would heavily screw gamebalance (even if everyone would have similar acces to new stat caps).

I get that your proposal is that you don't want people to cap everything anymore, but be more specialized, but that also screws with game balance.

Additionally, there are already chars that need very high average Utility to make a template. All Hybrids would be heavily disadvantaged by such a change, while simple to template chars like most pure-casters would more easily be able to take advantage of bigger caps.

And last but not least, everyone having a reasonably reachable baseline of equip to be on par is one of the pulls here. Most people would not like having to farm 95+ UT ROGs for tens and hundreds of hours to get their temp. Most don't want to be at a disadvantage because of equip in RvR, and many do not really like creating a template and shoving items around (which is why on live people mostly copied existing templates)


Personally i don't see a single positive thing that would come with this

I dont see the benefits except that people can waste more time in pve if rvr blows.

it would be really hard to do this without ToA bonuses and caps... this is classic not ToA... js!
