Make a few changes to Eggs/Snow/Etc to make grouping good again?

I've been saying this since the beginning of the server - but a lot of changes made to XPing here highly discourage grouping.

Eggs/Soil/Snow/Etc.? Gotta be solo.
Task Mobs? The more people you group, the harder mobs you need.
Want Mob XP items? Well if you group people you have to share the drops with them..

Literally, the fastest method for XPing is to solo farm yellows for task bonuses and then turn in the eggs. Run out to RvR and tag your task somehow, turn in XP items, rinse and repeat.

I haven't grouped up to level a toon since the RvR task changes - It's far faster to run solo on almost any class.

Personally, I think eggs/snow could be changed to drop while duo (then I could help my stealther brethren level a bit) or at a reduced rate in groups.
Change tasks to give credit for yellows or maybe yellows/oj all the way to the top.
Maybe increase XP item drop rates slightly (some mobs seem to hardly drop them at all) to encourage grouping in these regards.

I dunno I'm open to SUGGESTIONS

i said this in the population forum just recently.

Basically put the current argument is:

- Dont allow PLing as then no one will group while leveling 1-49.

What is currently happening:

- Lets solo 1-49 as its the fastest route.

So why not allow the PL? maybe its even slower than soloing....but still viable for the people who are time poor.

Anyway just a suggestion. But i always got a lot of fun out of being PL'd, yes its appears boring, but i normally make good friends/ chat a lot.

I may be out of the loop on the PL argument, but how did they nerf it exactly? Do you just not gain XP if you're outside of a certain level threshhold?

I PL by tanking the mobs for them, and buffing/healing with friggs. Means they don't need seer classes and level MUCH MUCH faster. Just do it from out of group OC.

Even better if you have a shammy/pac healer duo to PL them. Gather mobs, aoe stun with the pac and let the lowbies bomb them. Use Frigs to heal in combat if needed.

Lets you just tears through 1-35. Then they can just go flag port die, and keep take.


How any of this is better than just letting people group or normally PL friends.... I have no idea. It's pretty terrible done, doesn't prevent anything, and overly encourages soloing.

I don't see this as an issue at all.
In Hib as I am leveling my second ranger, I see bomb groups all over.
I am leveling solo, but don't see bomb groups falling behind my level speed at all.
In fact some that I see are leveling faster than I am with task items and phoenix eggs etc.

Essentially, it's maybe close to even at this point. Those who enjoy grouping will continue to do so, while those that don't have time or maybe have IRL issues that don't make them a good prospect for grouping are not being punished.

Be happy that you have an instance that completely eliminates rangers/scouts/hunter's NS/SB/Inf from being included in that content.

I think there is a mix of solo and group going on so the system is working. We can't expect to have only groups or only solos and have to attempt to cater to both.

People like Relvinian argued heavily during beta and the first few weeks of live that solo xp needed to be buffed more. It appears that any changes made to improve solo xp now frustrate some group xp players. Soloing is indeed faster than casual xp groups (without ideal setups, some deaths, the constant swapping of group mates: all time sinks that slow down group xp). Yet soloing is likely slower than bomb-group set-ups with players that know the best spots in which to move.

I think it's a tough balance to satisfy both the solo and group player experience. Just know that the speed at which you level is up to the player. The right class, the right motivation, and the right knowledge of the camps, zones and server rules can all contribute to your leveling speed. If you want to solo and play a good solo class, it will be very fast. If you want to play something beneficial to bomb groups (animist/healer/bombs/power regen), it will be very fast to group.

The major issue I have with fast xp is that Realm RvR tasks give too much xp and discourage grouping. Utterly silly that you can run out to the frontier zone, cast on someone, die and level up while you die. Why do you get xp for suiciding in the frontiers?

While I do agree with 90% of what you said, the last part I partly agree/disagree. Leveling a ranger is like almost always a solo adventure. Unless you got guildies that might group you, you are not getting into a group period. So the xp say post lvl 40 when task items only give you 4-5 bubs, you would be stuck mass killing mobs to try to level for hours.... Meanwhile the bomb groups are still banging out xp as usual. So I don't mind that we get XP in the frontier zones, and if people want to sit for 15 minutes then go back out for less than a bub of xp every 15 mins? Whatever I guess as that is stupid slow leveling. But I do agree we should not be getting near as much RP's just for tappin/dying. A few to get some PVE RA's is ok....but 6-700 rps as a lvl 12? Too much.
