I'm a 20 level instrument specced minstrel. I have 20 +5 instrument on my saracin minstrel. Others say they rarely have this happen with yellow and blue pets. I have it ALL THE TIME. My charisma +1 over cap. Harp is yellow. Any suggestions would me appreciated.
Thanks.

Take a SS when this happens. Yellow pets, even at low lvls, had a 1% resist chance on my mins (and still do)

My best guess is that you are breaking charm by playing songs or mezzing. This is where "twisting" comes into play. If you use your 8ntrument to cast anything it will break your charm. This also includes your ablative chant.

Ahhh ! So when I'm fighting with my pet and my mana is running low and I want to keep my pet....I sing my mana song but prrepare to re charm when the charm breaks ??? When fighting I just canno't make songs with my pet charmed ? or just make songs but prepare to re charm when I do....??

When fighting you cant play any songs. Or rather you shouldn't unless you can disengage from combat without having aggro. Everything is on a pulse, so you can charm a pet, play a song, then recharm (since charm is instant). Rinse repeat. But in combat you shouldn't use a song because it's too difficult to fight, play a song, target your pet and recharm non stop. It's much easier to kill something and just sit and regen after a fight. You can twist your songs after a fight is over if you want (while recharming). But even then it can get old quick and simply sitting to regen is sufficient enough.

People usually solo with minstrel 3 different ways.

1. Get a high con pet (high orange or red) and just use him to kill things. You have to constantly spam charm due to resists. But it's easy since you dont need to attack at all.
2. Get a yellow pet and use him as a damage add while you fight (seems to be most common)
3. No pet and just use ablative chant.

So it seems a pet is for solo play only since a group wants songs...correct ?

That's not true. Good Minstrels have a red pet and speed song at the same time, and if the pet isn't killed, still have their pet after the fight in RvR.

You have to twist your songs. There are tutorials online.

you just have to train your "spells" etc. while holding your pet charmed. Start solo with red pet and styling while keeping an eye on combat log and rotating - 1. target pet 2. charm button x2 3. next target - after every resist. Then train speed + charm and flute mezz + charm. Advanced is from speed into stealth into mezz while holding your pet for example.

a good minstrel will hold a red/purp pet through a 8vs8 fight while using it as "purge" to break every cc and also release+recharm pet to break every cc on pet itself all the while flute mezzing, snaring with weapon, interrupting 2+ targets with instants and controlling the pet to attack the right target (pro tip: high lvl pets can interrupt moc)

This seems cheaty and I don't think it should be a thing. I would like to see something like if you release pet intentionally then there is a timer on recharm. Or just don't drop CC on release.

It has always been like this, and it's not easy. I only know 4 minstrels on Alb who do it. It's not for free, either. The red pet hitting you hurts.
Midgard doesn't even have that problem. Their Skalds get Determination, lol. Minstrel doesn't. Skald gets out of CC for free, minstrel has to pay with health and skill.

Yeah skalds det makes cc immune

Why would a minstrel need det when they can break every single mez applied to them?

So having to get determination 9 which still makes a mez last longer than a minstrel breaking it with a pet is somehow "free' in your eyes? LoL.

It actually is easy and I know lots of minstrels who do it, in fact I can't think of one that doesn't understand this trick now. There is nothing fancy or hard about it.

And that red pet hitting you is not a big deal considering you can have it recharmed in half a second after it breaks your mez.

And I would trade Det on my skald for minstrel pet charm in a heart beat. The charm is a whole lot more helpful then determination. My lord just thinking of my skald running around with a red pet would be delicious LOL

Perhaps if they don’t have a pet?

Is it? The exact reason minstrel don't get Det is because they have a pet? I'd like to see a quote from the Phoenix devs on that.
