Hello, I have never played an Inf in all the time I have played daoc. I am currently looking at a merc inf spec, and wondering the pros/con's of it. Also, some of the builds of it. Any advice would be awesome. Wasn't sure if I should have any CS vs envenom or maxing out DW and Thrust. Thanks again guys. Cheers!

The only thing this thread doesn't give as much information on is Briton Slash which I would highly recommend you consider over a thrust inf. I have a feeling given the amount of qqing going on in other threads about SBs vs other sins, there might be some changes on the horizon.

While leveling Thurst is recommended because you will get beartooth , then you can switch to slash at 49 if you wish.
About MercInfil spec not many are trying it , I stopped playing my infil for a bit (RR4) because i was leveling farmer classes but once I'm rr5 then I'll try MercInfil spec but many are saying is simply not worth it.

Really depends on where and who you hunt - emain gets you lots of chain mids but also more sbs. Odins gets you more nightshades. Hadrians is a mixed bag if you even leave snowdonia - so many campers to hunt.

I played a mercfil back in the day and while i (like most others) were terrible at the game back then, I remember it being pretty effective.
I have not tested this at all for like 15 years, so dont take my word for it but I remember the 50 DW style with high GR and the added high bleed damage every swing doing pretty insane damage. It's like a free damage add.
I also remember trying really fast weapons to cap swing-speed, but dont remember if that was effective or not
I ran 50/50 DW/thrust, 34/34 stealth/envenom, rest CS at rr6+.

Thanks for the replay's. Perhaps i'll try the merc spec later when i'm higher realm rank. Fornow I'll do one of these following specs. I must ask though has anyone found using the DW or thrust styles over the CS styles for an anytime?

The rr3 spec I would go for is :

We are in a bit of a tough position thrust is -10 vs SB and neutral vs NS but you get 6 sec stun evade , now slash also has 5sec stun but is a 2 part evade chain but it will also put you at -10 vs NS . So to me thrust has 1 negative (-10 sb) vs 2 negative in slash ( 2 part stun chain and -10 ns) at least is how I view it.
For attacks I only use :
PA chain to open the fight
Garrote + Beartooth followed by Achilles
Basillsik Fang 34% speed debuff (side attack)
I do have Backstab Chain on my bars (fight opener)
That's it , I like to keep as simple as possible with everything going on (clickies, weapon swaps, etc).
I dont use any other anytime garrote is high endurance but you will have endo pot3 so never had a problem with endurance and hits hard enough and snares really don't see a reason to use any other anytime unless someone can elaborate.

At rr5 you can get 44cs , 40 dw, at rr6 should be what CS 44 , dw 42-44? (Dont have the charplan with me atm) so I find it hard to justify not having CS just to have 50dw at rr6 , when at rr6 you could be 40dw+ with cs sure means you will be 50 thrust and dragonfang sounds great but honestly in this server with the RAs purge can be 5min use so mostly likely is going to get purged. (Wished purge was 15min that's it , like they did for tireless1 only) .
I will try mercinfil at rr6 however mainly just to see how it is , is only 5k feathers to try it. On my mind if I can dish out similar dps without having to worry to land PA then sure why not, we'll see.

Try it out - infs are fortunate to have points for 50 in a line. The way defense penetration works you should go 50 in 1 line. Thrust is not worth it, cs is worth it below rr5/6. Dw is worth it after. Plus the 50 style is really good.
