Bot spec and afk

Here are some scenarios for a bot spec toon on only one account no dual log:

1. Afk in a group with buffs.
2. AFK out of group sticking someone.
3. Charging gold for buffs.
4. Think up some weird scenarios.

Can you be banned or is it against tos to play one toon enh spec and buff people while paying attention, while afk, anyways you want or is there a problem?

Rules are here.

There is nothing that *explicitly* covers that (and every possible scenario) as written. However, it is possible to be a bot without dual logging. If you cannot pass a bot test then you risk being treated as a bot.

To be clear - if it looks like a bot, acts like a bot, and cannot prove it is not a bot - it might be assumed to be a bot.

I had this question because I had buffed someone in game on my cleric and we were solo xping next to each other.l

I was thinking of just leaving myself logged in instead of logging with buffs on the other person.

But would not want to be banned for it. Etc.

I was about to post something about this as well...

I usually enjoy playing healers, but we're not all (mostly) responsible adults, and we have to work. I can VPN from the office to the house and craft, and do some solo play, but there are times when guildies log in and:

a) they want buffs while they solo
b) they are doing a PL session and I can jump in

In both instances I will be buffing them, but be semi afk as I am working and more often than not, can't look at the screen.

I for one am 100% against buff bots (yeah I used them in live but I understand their strain on a free server), but more than just a couple tells shouldn't guarantee someone is a bot, IP's, location (I know I know VPN), maybe a historical log of the char/account? log in, log out times in contrast to the accounts around it, etc.

Just my two cents!

I am sure at one time or another we have all been in a group that has done every trick there is. To me afk buffing makes one a bot. Even logging on and off to just damage add group makes one a bot imo. Afk pbt is a little more grey area but could be still a bot.

My question is this:

If I am playing my aug shaman and I buff everyone but my wife needs something so I need to go help her for 10-20 min before coming back, am I an illegal bot?

Should I drop group and drop all buffs or will the GM's give me that long to respond?

I don't mean to look for loop holes but I do have a wife and she can be bit...needy when it comes to honey do lists at times? I also have a 6 yr old son who wants me to help him with things so again, I could easily need to go afk for 5-10 min at a time which is partially why I play an aug shaman. If I know I won't be interrupted I play my Skald.

Would love a verification on this just so I know what to do =)

There are other ways to check if an account is used as a buffbot than just examining a single short period of inactive time. We play too and take into account real-life situations when making decisions. Players should focus on playing by the rules and having fun.
