Salvage Values

Just wondering is the ROG salvage values are correct? I'm just starting out, but it seems the lowbie ROG items don't return much in salvage. I do realize only having metal working in the mid 100's limits the returns, but you have to start somewhere. I was salvaging stuff around level 5, so it was really low stuff, but I could sell the ROG item for like 20 times the salvage/trinket value was. As I recall, the salvage formula was something along the lines of half the skill (ie, metal working) is needed for a good return on salvage? I could be wrong on this though, so that is why i'm asking

It's possible that the skill requirement is off. The salvage value should be 1.5 to 2 times the sell value, metal items should return 3 bars.

I'll have a look into it in the next couple of days.

Thank you all. I will try and do some more research myself on this.

Any update on this or is there an issue that we can follow?

Metal items should not return only 3 bars.
It should depend on your skill. At this stage, it is either 3 or 4 bars, regardless of item type.
On retail (if my memory serves well) when doing salvage, a 2 handed weapon or a chest piece would yield different values than a boot or a glove.

On live a 2h or cloth glove dropping was not affected by the classes farming. And yes, the actual return amount depends on your secondary skill it's just that the maximum bar amount is 3 or 4 for the rogs.

Isn't the problem that the items (ROG) sell back to vendors for far more than the value of their salvaged base components?

For Beta, as I understand it, ROG items will only return 4 mats if your skill is high enough. Even if the returned mats are grey to you, you will only get 4 mats back. Live should be as normal (I hope). Craft queue and move items is awesome! Just be aware, you will spend a lot of money very quickly lol.

The salvage value of ROGs will not be changed after Beta. It is intended that those items dont give that much bars because of their much higher dropchance compared to regular items.

So, is it more efficient to just vendor ROGs or does salvaging them actually turn some profit?
Tue 17 Jul 2018 6:06 PM by Myr
Haven’t tried salvaging yet however I assume there’s some profit given how many people I group with do it

There is some profit. An ROG that would vender for 2-3 gold I think can bring 10-16 gold. I'll have to try it again. It is disappointing that ROC will not salvage for more, because that is what drops (so Far) almost exclusively. For those who like to grind, salvage, and trinket to earn their gold, this will be a major issue..... It only leaves the dungeons to farm for salvage drops.

What about classic items like diamond/shappire/emerald from DF?? the value of salvaging these items aren´t correct.

If those arent correct, then please open a bug report and we will have a look at it.

I know I salvaged a lower set of DF chain boots (Mid) and only got 5 bars (Mith i think) from them. I will try this again when I can and report it to the bug tracker. I understand the need to keep the economy in check, but for those of us who like to farm, salvage, trinket and craft, this will make it difficult. The ROG items only salvage to 4 mats, and if DF mats come back very low, this will hinder the crafters. BTW my metal working skill is at 1300, so I don't think there is an issue with my crafting level

If DF-items salvage values arent the ones that they should be, then it is a bug and not a feature. ROGs have lower salvage values for a reason, while DF-items should salvage "correctly". Please open a report for it.

Well its better to have to adjust the salvage vlaues up than a broken economy; ) I havent found any major economy leaks in any realm so far

I have not noticed many/any normal item drops. Is that something yet to come, or have those been removed in place of the ROG?

If so, does that not make salvaging more/less useless if the ROG do not drop enough to profit? I do understand that the ROG drop alot and salvaging them would reap quite a reward, but if the other items do not exist, then that's all you have to salvage. Salvaging seems to be a huge part of the economy in this patch level, and it helps encourage crafters to get their skills up.

I am likely missing some key components of this argument, and I apologize if so, but I did not see the argument raised, and thought it worth mentioning.

Most of the regular drops were removed because of the ROGs. The rule for this is: all mobs between lvl 6 and lvl 55 only drop trashloot and ROGs. As ROGs drop very often, they dont have a high salvage value. DF items should still give the correct salvage value like they do on other servers. If they dont, please open a report. If you want to make some money via salvage items you can choose between salvaging ROGs or DF items. Depending on the stats of a ROG, it may also be an option to sell it via housing (as soon as it is in).

i dont think ive seen any regular items drops (non-rog) as far as weapons and armor goes after lvling 2 characters to 50?

salvaged a mid DF diamond hauberk for 13arcanium, is that the right amount? seems low

@Dev the chart i found from live seems to indicate salvage value should be alot higher than what i tried- http://www.craftsage.com/sealvalue.html
Ehrayn's Salvage Value Cheat Sheet
Crafting Essay on Darkness Falls salvage values from Diamond, Saphire and Emerald Seals for those skilling up in the crafts of Dark Age of Camelot
can you maybe check those items and see if it should be like that or if you lowered it intentionally
uthred indicated in this topic that it would be a bug but its a thread from a month ago so dont know if anything happened since https://playphoenix.online/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=719&start=10
dont have the seals to keep testing salvage values

so i think the values are indeed way off, as that chart talks about diamond seal prices of 10g to 12g where there is still some profit, but if i look at the one i bought and salvaged (even if it wasnt the best one for efficiency, 22seals for 13 arc bars is still way too low)
