Change Volcanic Pillar RA Values

Volcanic Pillar is arguably the worst Active RA on the server. Have you ever seen anyone use it? Probably not.

With NNRA the damage is as follows per rank.

+ Rank 1: 200 damage
+ Rank 2: 350 damage
+ Rank 3: 500 damage
+ Rank 4: 625 damage
+ Rank 5: 750 damage

On Phoenix it is

+ Rank 1: 200 damage
+ Rank 2: 300 damage
+ Rank 3: 400 damage
+ Rank 4: 500 damage
+ Rank 5: 600 damage

30 RA points for 600 damage with a 2 second cast time on 15 minute cooldown? RAs like this deserve buffs, and reverting the damage nerf to them is appropriate. It is a 30 point RA with NNRA. Why nerf the damage also?

Old RA VP was instant cast and cost 14 RA points. In case anyone forgot.

Positives: not a magic damage type so it does the damage as advertised. No resist effects it.
It's bolt range.
It's a DD so you can time it well with bolt for maximum burst.
It's uninterruptable.
Those are pretty damn good strengths.

The fact that it's aoe is kinda garbage imo, because it isn't going to do enough damage to warrant breaking all that cc on a clumped up group. The falloff is horrendous and just tickles anyone around the main target.

It's heavily abusable as a troll RA if the damage is too high on it, because people run 3 or 4 people with it and insta gib a cc'ed group before they know what hit em.

I think to balance it out, they tune the numbers to be higher (especially considering the long cool down) but make it single target so it has synergy with the classes that have access to the ability. The only appeal to it is bursting someone, timing it with bolt. Any other use is just kinda abusing it/trolling. If you look at any threads that still exist for old school daoc regarding VP, the problem people had with it was that people would just run a buncha people with it and kill a group before they had a chance to counter it.

Tl;dr make the damage single target and slightly better so it makes sense with the class it's on. Synergy.

It costs 30 RA points and has a 15 minute cooldown. The falloff is so bad that the AE doesn't even matter. I agree the damage should be increased.

I think on live the damage is heat-based and here it is of a damage-type nobody has resists in. As a result it is currently probably hitting harder than if the damage was set to "live values" but with Heat-resists if everything else was kept the same.

I don't think it is fair to compare RA's to the old ones, as some of the old ones where A LOT stronger than how they currently are. Old BOF, old SOS all where a lot stronger too.

Both the CD and the RA-price is big, yes. But instant 600 damage to your primary target at bolt-range is pretty strong too, I would much rather see the price lowered and/or CD lowered than upping the damage. Getting hit for over 50% of your total HP (depending on your class and buffs) at bolt-range is nothing to sneeze at.

You seem to forget that on live everyone runs with at least 36% heat-resists where here everyone has 0% resists since it is a on a damage-table we got no resist-buffs for here. Not only that, here people generally have (much) less health due to 75 CON / 200 HP stat-caps, no champion-levels and such . I wouldn't be surprised that relatively speaking the ability does more damage here than on live (relative to enemy HP).

If you want to up it to 750 damage flat-out without being on a resist-table and AoE you are not very realistic.
