Theurg Spec

Hey everyone!

So I've been reading and seems like a lot of people spec high earth pets for RvR

I remember a good tri spec use to work. My game play with vary from duo/8man depending on action and day.

What does everyone think of the tri spec?

35 earth - 8 sec pbt(i think that 6 sec pbt drains to much power)
32 wind - Maxes out wind pets, the aoe mez is okay but with det 9 so easy to get seems worthless
25 cold - This gives purple pet spell, which can level to 50 if i've read correctly.

Well I was waiting for somebody more experienced to answer this, but since it's been quiet today, I'll take a stab at it.

First off, that is the most common tri-spec I see mentioned in or out of game, so it probably is the most popular tri-spec. It gets you a pet spell in each line that can do 88% of level 50. It also gets you the second PBT. What you miss out on is the higher spec nukes in Ice/Air, and the higher aoe root/mez in those lines. So it's a choice between a more pet heavy spec (this one) or a more nuke/CC oriented spec with Ice or Air. Going 48 Earth is still an option, but as I understand it, that is very mana heavy with the higher PBT and pet spamming.

I've personally done some testing on Phoenix with the 40/32/25 Ice pets. There is definitely a difference in tanking/melee/nuking between them. I also tested the 25 Ice pet with 41 Ice and 25 Ice spec, and it felt like there was a bit of a difference, but not a lot. Now that was all PvE, but it was the only way to do a common comparison. I haven't tested the Earth pets yet, or anything else besides the 32 Air pet.

The tri-spec is probably a safe multi-purpose spec, you could use it solo or in groups, but it will rely heavily on pet usage. I see a lot of recommendations to spec Air if you are solo in RvR, and I'm doing some testing on that myself. It's probably worth doing some testing for yourself to see what you like. The only real issue is that you can't do 35/25/32 until 50, so you can't test it properly until you lose the unlimited respecs.

Hopefully somebody else who has use the spec can provide more insight.

Why do you want to trade weaker earth pets, weaker ice-nuke and weaker ice-pets for a bad mez and worthless air-pets?

I like to have some variety in the buttons I'm mashing while being killed.

I'm not sure that the air pets are worthless. In the solo/duo game the perma stun is pretty amazing no? Is the damage output on the earth pets really scale that much over a few levels? I doubt I will be using much nuke damage in 8man or solo/duo. I certainly don't plan on mezing anyone with my current playstyle.

My understanding of a Thuerg in any spec is not to Nuke but to spam pets for interupts or possible peel.

How would I would play in an 8man may defer from others, but I'm thinking you would want to spam earth pets on caster's, ice pets on healers and air pets to help peel off your support/dps classes. 2-3 pets per person that is not currently CC'd. This of course all changes depending on fights and grp sizes. My friend and I were killing 50's at 39 using minst/thuerg combo he would mez I would cast my air nuke pets he would stun they would die before getting to us.

The reason I ask the question,

Do the higher level earth pets really do a lot more damage?
Does the resist rate or dmg change on the ice pets dds?
Are air pets still able to perma stun and does it still proc pretty often?

Thanks!

Players get CC immunity. So you can’t permastun anyone in RvR. Which makes air worthless in RvR except for rupts, which ice is better at.

Hmm,

My air pets don't have an immunity, have you tested this?

Have you tested it in RvR? It shouldn’t be stun locking anyone.

Should be 3 sec stun = 15 sec of stun immunity.

E: unless I’m misunderstanding how Theurg pet stun is different from any other stun.

Air pets do not trigger stun immunity. Check the char plan, it's listed in the pet details.

Air pets can perma stun, I played a Theurg during beta and tested for sure.

Thanks,

I think for the time being the Tri spec will work the best!
