What is RM role in RvR?

I know in PvE groups they just turn on PBT and watch TV but what is their role in RvR? Are they just supposed to assist the melee train and blow people up? Just made my very first RM ever and wondering what life is like in the Frontier.

that would get you kicked from my PvE groups pretty fast No idea where you got that from...

In RvR your job is nearsighting / assistnuking / residebuffing / DA-buffing / GTAOE-nuking / bubbling / etc... depending on specc

You spec 48 RC and lead the cold train out of the station.

Also near sight, root and deal with pets

Just remember, RM is a utility caster.
Your PvE theory is complete BS, not sure where did heard it from...
RvR can be played different ways, depending on your spec. Just google it and you will find tons of answers for your question (its not Phoenix but Runemaster related)

GL and enjoy it

so then whats a damage caster? I always thought a utility caster was something like a Theurg or Sorc. I know RM have utility like NS and PBT but they also have those nice juicy bolts.

3 ways to play RM depending on the group you are with.

Dark RM- 47?/26 supp, biggest delve nuke on mid side + 35% nearsight. You are nuking/nearsighting/rooting (all casters root all the time generally although some groups with melee peeler advise you not to root in favor of melee snare using same cc timer)

RC RM- 50% cold debuff, this RM is for caster groups. 48 RC/22 dark or 48RC/11supp/rest dark for 25% nearsight

Trispec RM- I don't think many people are playing this here but it's pure utility, mainly nearsight & interupt (with confusion I think) + PBT

Take away- for most groups dark is probably the way to go. If you know you will run with casters or want to run with casters, go RC to make blowing shit up easy. The bolts are certainly fun and are good ways to get kills especially in zerg v zerg.

I theory crafted tri spec (36 RC, 30 Dark) with a guildy and in my opinion it's not very good. Your base nuke in Dark has a lot of variance, and you have a lot of responsibilities at that point, which is why the 48 RC or 47 Dark builds are most prevalent. With RC, you're the Main Assist in a cold train caster group because you make everyone nuke harder. Dark spec is a little more flexible in terms of grouping.. you can be a solo caster in group and do fine. Your primary targets at the beginning of a fight (with 47 Dark, 26 Supp) should be nearsighting. Nearsight Sorcs and Bards immediately upon engaging. From there, all Alb casters (since Alb runs majority caster groups) should be getting NS. For Hib, I would normally try to NS druids after the Bard along with Chanters/Elds. Once you've gotten a few nearsights out, you can jump on the MA but your primary focus should honestly be pet control (with Confusion) and nearsight priority targets. Dark RM is pretty straightforward in that regard.

does anyone on Mid run caster groups and do they actually work?

Mid castergroups have good synergy with a RC runemaster, SM, BD. There are plenty of caster groups on mid.

Go 48 RC, 11 supp, 22 dark. Variance will be bad on low RR, but you cannot give up that Nearsight.

47 RC 26 Supp is only good for zergsurfing and Dark spec is decent if you have a RC RM to debuff for you or if you are the only caster in a tank grp.

I was thinking of trying a tri-spec on low RR for better variance on my own nukes, but figured the extra 20% debuff for the other casters would make much more of a difference. Planned spec was 37 RC, 26 supp, 29 dark.

atm i am tryin tri spec and works good... even in caster groups if the others assist i still hardly get a nuke off after debuff... i also run alot as only caster and the baseline nuke with 30 percent debuff still hits almost 100 dmg more per nuke on targets with resists.. i also get to keep pbt and blue ns which is nice esp as solo caster
