Tread carefully when punishing players for bugs you folks created.

It's a very good way to follow the path of Uthgard. A lot of people will never check the forums here and suddenly destroying people templates is a great way to bleed players.

A some of those I know for a fact were honest mistakes. We had a SC'er using some SC software that doesn't work with 1.65 very well that was undervaluing 11% resists gems recently. A problem we fixed last week mind you by having everyone use the right version of Loki/Kort's, but still some of the guys on the list I know for a fact are there because of this issue.

You really shouldn't be blaming folks for a coding mistake you guys made for a game with info as hard to find as DAoC. People still ask some of the most basic questions 100x a day in advice. Many haven't played in over a decade. 33.5/37.5 aren't burned into the memories of every casual DAoC and player you very well know that.

Maybe if you included a period correct spell crafting calculator on the website right next to the character planner I could understated your response to this, but you folks pretty much just told everyone to figure it out, and the ones that made mistakes are getting punished for your own.

All this aside I'm playing devil's advocate though. I very well know the imbue numbers by heart and was using the proper 3rd party software. 15 minutes of looking at advice chat would let you know that there are a LOT of folks that only half know what they are doing. Many of which will never see your post on the forum and will log in to a stripped character.

My suggestion would be to strip the effected items of their gems and return them to the players inventories.

If you would have bothered reading the thread from the GMs about this you would know that is what they are doing. There is no loss of items, just the SC and you can redo your template with the correct imbue points.

As some have noticed, you can overcharge up to 6.5 points instead of 5.5 points, for programmers out there that's the difference between <= 6 and < 6 .

On the coming Monday everyone who has an item with more than 5.5 points of overcharge will loose all spell crafted bonuses on all of their items in their inventory and vault. This is so that these people have a blank set of crafted items to recreate a template. All other items with more than 5.5 points of overcharge in account vaults, house vaults or anywhere else will also loose all spell crafted bonuses.
