3 day bans

with dozens of bans it seems per day, and the ToS very clear about dual logging, I think it's in the best interest of everyone (devs and legit players) to not cut slack to cheaters and just perma ban both accounts involved. PERHAPS this will send the message you want.

True but belongs in suggestions I think, but yeah.

I am really surprised at the number of people who can't play this game without cheating.

Not surprising many are being banned. You do not need to travel far before you bump into a leveling spot being used by someone dragging a bot around. I would guess 3 days isn't enough.

I´m not surprised, many names of players from the live servers under the banned accounts.

And on live they notice a slight increase in players, so they go back from where they came.

Like it or not. Most people dont read the rules they agree to play by. A 3day ban is a good reminder to maybe do so for once.
Server doesnt get better if we perma ban anyone with a minor offense.

I've never been able to fully understand the mindset that drives cheaters to do what they do. Do they just get an endorphin rush from big numbers? Or are they really so out of touch with reality that they believe said large numbers actually prove that they are superior in some way, even though they were obtained through questionable means? Like, what is there to be proud of? But yeah, get rid of them. If they are cheating now, they will cheat in the future.

Dual logging and cheating are two very different things tho: while cheating (radar, speed hacks, whatever) has never been allowed anywhere, not even on the live servers, buff botting has always been allowed there thus people may have the (wrong) impression that it's allowed here too.

It is only within reason that the first punishment for dual logging is just a temporary one.

I suspect that many who cheat are looking at it as part of the larger game. Just as most of us will try to get the best gear we can to be better in game, some will also try to get additional advantages by cheating. A 3 day ban seems like an appropriate reminder that we don't use buff bots on this server.

I actually didn't... Created 4 account, 4 characters, as usual on any freeshard.
Got the ban hammer in the face for 3 days, and now rolling. I mean yeah, it was all an honest mistake. Corrected.

If it becomes too much work to ban people then yeah go ahead and raise the ban time.

Like others have said though - I think some aren't reading the rules.

You see a lot of bans with names like Tom & Toma... if they were really trying to pull a fast one to get around the rules I think they'd put just a little more effort in right?

Maybe I give people too much credit.

i agrree that many punsihed people probably "just" didn't read the rules...
...but imo not reading the rules should already be an offense

When i go somewhere i haven't been i inform myself about custom rules/laws that might be relevant.
It boggles my mind how hard it is for some people to just read a few sentences, there are regularly people asking for help regarding game-install and it is blatantly clear that they just did not read the instruction properly.

When did reading become such a burden to people?

These *ppl don`t read the rules*....blabla, just stfu.

That may be an argument for brand new players or ppl that returned to a daoc server after 5-10 years.
Ppl that played Uthgard or live know the rules on phoenix, and that is the majority. So no excuses anymore.

And for the rare cases that someone didn`t know the rules, they can ask in /adv or their guilds.

ignorance of the law and all that... you have to click you accept the TOS before creating an account I believe. We could have more devs working on Task issues instead of chasing cheaters.

So much this.

Ignorance is not an excuse considering all the tools are there to learn what you need...

Plus, I would NEVER jump onto a brand new server and ASSUME buff bots are allowed. I would always check the rules.
