Basically what state above, Is it worth for a casual player to level up, let's say a Necro, in order to farm money & craft then level my main char?

I just don't see the value.

I know a lot of people do it, but I get money just fine on my normal rvr character.
Any class can farm money, and money is easy here with Rogs.

I wouldn't waste the time of leveling 2 characters on a casual playtime.

focus on 1, you will make 3-5 plat just buy hitting 50.

ppl may disagree with me who have 12 hours a day to invest into multiple characters.

Get 50 and RVR, have fun while the going is good. ROGs will keep your head above water no problem.

An easy way to make money is to Salvage.

In order to do that, you'll need ROGs.

With my Berserker at 50, I'm able to farm enough ROGs in one hour to salvage about 1p (maybe a little less).

I'm thinking a Bonedancer or Shaman would make things 1000 times better.

But it's not the end of the world.

i disagree a little bit with the previous posters...they are correct but in the end it still boils down to how much you will be playing in total (not per day/week)

ROGs won't keep your head above the water, unless you farm ROGs.
Daily playtime also doesn't factor into the equation imo, only overall playtime does.

example:
If someone spends 50hours on his berserker solofarming ROGs for plats, it doesn't matter if he does that in a week or over the course of one year. He has spent 50hours farming on a berserker. period.

If those 50hours made him 50plat but someone can level a farmchar in 30hours and farm 50plat in 10hours (made up numbers, just showing the theory) then the farmchar option will have been a better decision since you spent 10hours less farming the plats.

That said, all in all a farmchar is not a musthave here. You can get RvR-ready without loads of plats and if you do not solo mch in RvR then costs for pots will also be quite manageable. If you want to solo in RvR though you need a lot of potions (aka feathers and plats) and for example an assassin-template isn't as cheap to get as a castertemp.

So, longterm a farmchar will always be "worth it", but to jump in and get a feel for the server/gameversion going for your mainchar directly is not something that will be a huge downside later down the road. Imo i would probably advise to get the RvR char done first, then you can do a bit of zerging/grouping in RvR and do the farmchar on the side (or have the rvr char for a break of PvE during levelling of farmchar). Either way, invest into a combined forces buffpotion at lvl30...it might seem expensive, but in the end it will make the PvE part much more bearable

another perspective and to partially complete the above written:
I leveled a shaman in first place and farmed more than 40 plat on him in the first 2 weeks.
I spent more than 20 plat to LGM tradeskills, after I realized that the products are almost sold at the mat price.
that being said, you can easily get your temp done for 10 plat for most classes. 99ish chain armor is sold regularly for mat price - with a bit of ROG luck, you don't even need 99ish qual armor. 60+ Util ROGs you may find already below 200g each.
Necklace quest, 2x TG run (2hrs total on MID) and you have your chest piece. Another 3 runs and you have your weapons/shield. Every other run earns you money since you can sell 30k feathers (rough 3 runs if bad group) for 4-6 plat on sundays (WE is currently no EU zone TG raid) - during the week you may get lesser for 15k feathers

I am trying to say is that even if you leveled your Main RvR toon to 50 and go to zergfest and enjoy RvR with drop stuff, after 2 weeks of 10 TG runs, you will be able to have your RvR toon temp'd without having farmed a single mob.
Even with subpar farming classes you can easily farm yellow mobs at a slower pace, easily in Spindel / hagall area for good salvaging results, or join DF farming groups with unpopular solo farming classes like warrior and have a huge benefit.
Invest 500g to LGM your salvaging skills (guide here in crafter section) and you are good to go.
At the moment (!) there is no need to invest time and effort into a special farming class or a main tradeskill IMHO.
I need to add that I do not have insight on other realms/classes to back my statement.

Feeding a stealther with a necro is much more enjoyable than trying to chain pull reds with an inf. So in an hour I can salvage say 2pp plus sell 50+ Util rogs. That pays for poison/buffs/charges/house/respec stones for each RR. and maybe I buy 5 dex/qui str/con charges with pp instead of feathers.

Plus anything left over I can craft if i feel inclined

I made a shaman to farm with. About to hit level 50 on him. Figured it would be easier to get a farm character up first. Can anyone recommend any spots to aoe pull that drops good salvage?

As long as you create the groups you can farm plats on any toon.

It really depends on what you're playing. A level 50 regrowth/nurture warden or druid is terrible at soloing, so it you want to solo farm, you'd probably want another toon to do that with.
