Plz Consider rework Tireless RA with a penalty in combat and when running otherwise i fear pala will get useless again on higher RR as it was the case on Origins . Maybe not 8 sec but 4 or 5 dont know :-) Thanks
Well...Paladin is my favorit class and I am not gonna play one in this current situation because it will be not needed in RvR setup. You have regen endu pots 10 min + tireless + lw = paladin not mandatory. Up his chant to 2000 range not gonna change this. You rather take a armsman if you want a tank def in rvr for his dmg and stoicism.
It's still interesting though... * Anyone plan having a pala in setup ? * Gms, are you aware of what I described above ?
It will effect everything on alb PVE + PVP. In time no one will make a pala although needed for PVE especially at low lvl so PL will be the only option left for xp.
Yeah, not having pala for leveling will kill groups (no endo for taunting/slam), but if pala have no use past lvl 40 (cause people will have tireless and pots), there no point to make one.
It's quite of a dead end here, and lot of people already see it, paladins are way more asked in /lfg (or even in /send, I get a few group asking every hour in prime time) than cleric or sorc. Maybe buffing the resist chants so they got usefull (but not needed) in RvR setup... I don't know, I'm not a great game designer ^^
I'm not a fan of the heavy-handed style changes Mythic made to classes on the live servers to try to bring balance (celerity on paladins/wardens, levi on thanes/valks, etc), but it was the right general direction for making the classes function and fill roles in groups. As it stands Paladins bring nothing to the table that can't be done more efficiently by other classes/potions, and it is going to remain that way unless the devs are willing to consider making custom changes to the class. The free shard community tends to place early DAoC design on a pedestal, but the reality is proper online/pvp game design was in its infancy and Mythic had no idea what they were doing-- just like everyone else at the time. The addition of stat buff potions and the acceptance of buff bots is a fairly good look into their lack of game design foresight.
I understand the devs not wanting to add custom class changes as it can be a slippery slope and is extremely hard to do properly. If they were to consider changes though the Paladin would have to be among the first classes altered. Improve their weaponskill table, buff their current chants (things like combining resists into one chant, increasing values of all chants slightly, adjusting tick rate/mechanics), and/or modify/improve their spec points or style pool. With granular changes to the base numbers/mecahnics of the class it can be brought into line gradually so it is competitive and worth using outside of PvE.
For me the solution is simple, remove Buff/end regen pots. The mere idea of a single potion making a char usless is a joke. In the past there were buffbots yes but I don't remember people using end regen pots or atleast a pot that could challenge a red endo from any char.

Yeah we don't want Paladins to become useless so make it so the regen/end potions are only as good as green con or lower. That still means that you could achieve red endurance with tireless 3 (I think) but that's quite an investment in realm skill points.
The problem with all of this is you are now trying to cripple the classes that never use a paladin, i.e. scout/infil/minstrel. Also this would fuck with stealthers on the other two realms all for the sake of one class. Paladins bring more then just end regen, dumbing down one class to just one ability is entirely stupid.
I gues it would help alot if Tireless just would get its 8 sec Penalty in combat and while running as it was the case on Uthgard and later on Genesis. Remove Buff and endureg pots might be a great idea aswell.
In my opinion, the paladin is just fine like this (the class itself). In order to have his slot in competitive 8 man it's tireless or/and pots end that need to be modify. As I say above, if the endurance from paladin is not mandatory in rvr, you rather group an armsman to do the same thing in better. Det 5 was needed and end 2000 range is a nice plus to have but even then... He will be limited to Pve/friendly group in this current configuration.
I suggested in the potion timer thread, to allow stat enhancement buffs last 20 minutes while keeping their reduced value purely as a QoL benefit. this doesn't harm buff classes, and it doesn't harm hybrids. It allows hybrids to keep their self buffs while augmenting secondary stats. I would ABSOLUTELY hate to see the tireless RA reworked as it was a huge draw for me to playing here. What I would suggest to keep the paladin viable for RvR is reducing the regen pots to 10 minute timer with a max value of +2 per tick. If a group wanted to spend the RP's to reach Tireless 3 while juggling pots I don't see that as a viable alternative to replacing the Paladin in groups.
Removing Buff/endupotions would boost RAs aswell. Maybe add Second Wind RA as another Custom change . Reducing Timer will not change anything. On Uthgard/Origins there was an 2 min Timer on Endupotions and we all know what happended to Paladin ( but no DET ) .
You people also seem to be forgetting that it costs RAs to get anywhere near the pally regen level and alch pots will cost money/time depending on how you go. It would be so much easier to run a pally then try to get to tireless 3 and buy/make the amount of pots you'll need to keep up with a casual play.
Stop trying to gimp the most of classes for one class.
History tells another story ! Tireless 3 is 10 Points and it will stack with Blue endu ! Whats so difficult about that ? You will Gimp no class just make them more valuable.

How so? The only classes who will invest in this are stealthers/solo. Paladins will still be desired for 8 mans for red con endu and their combat/defense strength. They provide other bonuses through twisting then just endu but freeing 10 RA points is huge in the grand scheme when your group can then put those towards something more useful like det.
You're trying to gimp stealthers so one class can be required, that's not the game. That's not even how the game should be played.
Out of personal experience i know this is not the case. You can delete your pala or just use it for Legion or Dragonraid. We shall see. Rework Tireless add Second WInd RA and Remove Buffpotions/Endupotions would also blow a fresh breeze and new ideas to daoc .
