How to move my DAoC to my SSD

So when I installed the game it installed on my normal hard drive.

What I am wondering is two things:

1) Would DAoC being on my SSD help in any way? Load times a LOT faster? Anything?

2) If I wanted to move my DAoC without reinstalling, how would I move it from my D: to my C

It should help, I'm in the same boat and have been considering moving it.

You should just be able to move the folder, and update the shortcut you are launching from to the new location. If I get around to trying it this week I'll report back in case there are any other steps that need to be taken.

As old as the game is I was thinking this was it, I just wasn't sure if it would affect a link I didn't know about.

It's not going to matter much. Game is run from RAM, not HDD. The speed of transfer between the HDD to RAM vs a SSD wouldn't mean much in a game like this.

Ok that is what I was wondering, so it wouldn't help much really.

If it was a game that tried to constantly load 5-10gb of data over and over again to RAM, sure, it will slightly speed up a loading screen for any game. If you have the space, go for it.

I've noticed some lag that seems related to HD load times, maybe it isn't, but moving to the SSD is the only way to find out.

Well let me know if anything changes for you!

I did it last night, and it was really easy. Moved the folder, changed the shortcut, launched the game, no issues.

It did address the main problem I was trying to fix, occasional lag when running around the frontiers. When action is imminent, but out of visual range, the system will load something from the drive, probably models for the realm I'm about to fight or whatever. Doing that on a physical drive will cause a hiccup, and you may actually hear the drive accessing at that point. Moving it to the SSD eliminated that hiccup, and gave a more fluid experience.

Other than that, and faster loading times, there doesn't seem to be any difference.

Totally understandable. I'm at the point in my PvP development where avoiding client interruptions is more helpful than getting a heads up on incoming, but that also has to do with running around solo. It's probably not a big deal for most players.

The overall performance of MMOGs relies heavily on drive performance, RAM is 2nd and CPU 3rd place in that regard.

The engines are continious loading data from the drive (mostly models & textures) roughly 1-2 seconds before the object comes into client rendering range.
Loading everything into the RAM would be bad habit/ressource management because 99% of the data would be unused.

Only offline or multiplayer games with fixed contraints can do that (like [insert random shooter here] or [insert random MOBA here]) as their data is not changed dynamically; everything that will be visible is known at the start.
