PVE Raid with 120 Hibs but 10-20 FPS and 6-8% GPU usage?

Hello everyone,

I have a EVGA GTX 1070 SC with an I7-7700 CPU. I think my system is pretty decent to run DAOC without lag but i was taken back by how low the GPU usage was.

Is there something i can do setting wise or is this due to the old outdated engine?

DAoC is limited by CPU performance, in general the >10 year old Gamebryo engine (last update with Darkness Rising) and the massive amount of data the client has to process (especially combat chat in a raid - disabling it does not help because it's still processing it).

Because the games core is so old, multi-core systems do improve performance only slightly; single core performance is what matters.

General tips for raids:
disable cloak /cloak off (the more people doing that, the better)
old characters models (character screen settings)

In both cases less data/animations to load & process.

i want to stress this part, as i see people saying "i have a strong PC i don't need that" or "i never LD i can leave my cloak on":

you are not disabling the visual for your cloak for yourself, but for the people that DO have problems.
Just do THEM a favor and /cloak off too

(and i am saying that as a person that has not LDed in TG yet)

Please check your computers power saving option is set to performance mode(yes desktops have this) This isnt usually an issue with newer games because they utilize multi core CPUs. These really didnt exist when DAoC came out so DAoC only uses one core ( think if you have 4 cores at 1.4ghz, that's like a 5.6ghz single core. But since it only uses one, it's only pulling from 1.4, and probably limited at that.). See if that helps.

Yes but my cpu is an i7 that goes to 4.2 speed. I do run my computer on balanced power settings so maybe i need to adjust that. Either way at 1080 resolution one would figure they would get more than 20 fps with my set up in a raid. I have a feeling that even if i had 2 - rtx 2080s in sli and 1 of these extreme overclocked intel i7 i would still get less than stellar results

Dunno. Performance troubleshooting with DAoC has always been a crapshoot to begin with. I have a similar setup to yours except I run an r390 GPU. I get 40+FPS in a gala raid with 250+ people. I would also check your device manager and make sure there arent any hardware conflicts. (Amatuer troubleshooting but better to cover all the bases)
