Laptop performance issues? Game and sound stuttering.

I've been getting sound and fps stuttering on my laptop (even though the fps counter remains stable above 100fps). When I only run DAoC and nothing else it's usually fine, but when I run Discord and or YouTube in the background I get sound and visual stuttering. Same when I try to record gameplay.

Running on an Asus n551jk laptop which is a couple of years old now. It seems a performance issue, but the specs of my laptop should be able to handle it easily. (8gb ram, 500gb ssd, 850gtx+onboard intel graphics card, Intel® Core™ i7 - 4710HQ Processor)

Anyone got any idea on how to solve this? Would taking my laptop apart to airblow it help?

I've checked and updated all drivers but the problem remains.. Am at a loss here.

Does DAoC use your 850gtx or your onboard intel graphics card?

I had a similiar issue with mine, once I manually set DAoC to use the graphicscard, things worked fine.

I tried to do that. Unfortunately it made no difference or even made it worse (when I used GeForce to capture gameplay)... It is strange though, I can adjust the gamma levels through my Intel gfx card and they are applied to DAoC even when I run it through my GTX card..

If you are running Windows 8/10 run the Phoenix.exe as Administrator and configure it to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Some newer games don't work well with new operating systems. Also, update your DirectX runtimes...

I would also check your power settings and make sure you are running in performance mode and not a custom or power saving mode(which is default for most laptops). Just be aware it's going to consume more power and kill your battery if you arent plugged in.

What do you mean with the above? I simply start the porgram when I run it as admin.

Right click the Phoenix shortcut you use to launch the game, select properties, then hit the Compatibility tab - then configure as the image below:
