Percent of Resists CAP over 26%?

I know it is capped at 26% but if one of my natural resists start at 5% can I hit 31% and be effective or is 26% the cap CAP? need to know before I spellcraft my suit and try to get it templeted.

Those are on top of the 26%

They stack, so you still want 26% in everything from your gear.

As already stated above, you can reach a maximum of 26% resists from your template. If you have an additional 5% racial resist then that particular resist is now 31%.
