Some words to Phoenix - Phoenix Freeshard

I played - with breaks - some years on uthgard, i waited the 2 years until they scripted their overhaul for a new and better server.
Then i heared of the Phoenix-server and play since nearly a weak here and so far i have to say, its really fun. All the modifications alone in the skills are simply great. Things are so fast and easy now and the gameplay is pure fun.
I'm very sure, the makers of Phoenix loved the first 15 levels of playing a char, like we all do, and then asked theirselfes: why are the last 15 levels duty and work and not much fun anymore ? Their answer is Phoenix and its a great answer.
I don't know everything , by far not but i think i understood what the devs of Phoenix are aiming for, and i'm really glad, they do.

For me Uthgard is a great server also, i don't want to say that one is better then the other, they are different. Uthgard stands for the old and also loved, real Daoc, and there are not a little number of people for whom that is more important. Phoenix stands for fun and easy gameplay, and removing tedious elements of daoc as good as they can, and not a little number of people love that also

So both are cool and rivalism between both would be a sorry to see.

Reality check. this is NOT 1.65..this IS NOT a fair server. They take away most of the defensive ability away from many classes.. basically render useless many others. Its a VERY biased sever. I had hoped it would be better than uthgard. In some aspects it is.. but for the most part its control. Play where we want with what toons we want. Farm feathers all day. This isnt 1.65, just the real estate is. I realize that most of you are frikin stupid. Cant see the fact that your lead to play how THEY want you to play..want rps..go here.. want to do any dps play this.. these guys are a joke..this isnt 1.65. Ban me if you wish. I gave ya a fair shake..ya proved yer just like john thornhill..ok to cheat just dont dual log..[edit - Language] useless .

They made a long testing phase and invited people to say their opinion. People like "hamsi" are on uthgard also. They complain, harass and grief others, because its their main interest and much more fun then gameplay.
With phoenix we have now 2 different playstyles, 2 different ways, so the daoc-world has gotten more rich, and i myself like Phoenix as much as i like Uthgard.

To be serious, phoenix gave me back the fun of daoc. I really loved uth 1 but at the end and the new relaunch of Uth2 I never felt really comfortable with it. I don ´t want to blame Uthgard, it ´s still a decent setup server, but I prefer a more modern and customized server concept with more focus on gameplay and fun rather then a retro designed game that feels like a museum visit. Well museums are great, but they are not made for a long duration to stay there.
Though, both servers have their benefits, and I hope both will have a long lasting and good future ahead.

That being said, there is no perfect server that fits all kind of players and different opinions, but phoenix really has a well thought structure and is simple offering options for many different playertypes to play faoc like they want to. Imho daoc is and never has been an easy mmorpg compared to other games of it ´s genre, phoenix has some benefits that might make it easier then other daoc servers, but it ´s still challenging and not easy mode.

I feel maybe some of the hardcore 8vs8 group players might no be so happy with the crowded and zergy gameplay and maybe there shoudl be some kind of a reward system for them too, when they do their 8v8 thing in zones where no task bonus is provided, i dunno.

But I see very few complaints about phoenix, and that itself is already a great award for this server for sure.
Thx staff to bring the daoc community such a great daoc experience.

No one said it was 1.65 LOL. They said that was the base they started with. If it's so bad why bother all this energy? This is the most fun I've had in DAoC in a long time - prob since Uth1.

I love what they have come up with here. Would pay $15 a month for it. Just glad I don't have to. There are certainly tweaks that could be made, but it's a great start.

I hit 50, with all salvaging skills 1000+, in a few minutes over 48hrs /played on a warrior. Amazing! I would never have the Patience to do this anywhere else. I have about 10 alts at various levels as well.

I am grateful for the staff bringing back DAoC into my heart.

This is not 1.65 it is a custom daoc free server.

Don't think something is balanced then make a bug report.

Phoenix staff has been wonderful implementing this server with QoL changes that enhance, not detract, from the DAoC experience we all fell in love with many years ago. They have continued to be responsive and actively working on this server since it’s launch and the player base is responding very enthusiastically as seen by the growing player base. I’m sure the Phoenix staff are pleased their efforts have been appreciated so much.

I’m having more fun playing on this server than any other MMO I’ve played since the hey day of WOW. I hadn’t played DAOC since probably 2004 (quit around when ToA came out) but it’s always had a nostalgic place in my heart along with Everquest.

I convinced a few friends to make characters with me, and so far only 1 of them has stuck around but we’re almost 50 and having a blast.

Thanks to the admins and team for making this happen! I hope it stays around for a long time.

Which classes, please be more specific because as far as I see, every class in hibernia are viable now and most of them gets groups or group comps, or are you referring to solo play? Even the champion gets gameplay, and are more frequent in tank groups. I also hear people are asking for void eldritches, even kicking light or mana elds out of groups (which I can't fathom or understand but every comp to itself).

The devs doesn't choose where I / we are going in RvR, they just move the zerg around to make use of the zones and also create more stable zones to RvR in as smallman or 8 man. If the zerg is in Hadrian's wall, that means Emain and Odins are open for more fair 8v8, solo or small man. You can run with the zerg, surf the zerg, or move entirely away from it if you'd like. The Devs doesn't control [edit - Language], they just create more suspense.

This isn't a pure 1.65, what lead you to believe that?
