Sword Viability

Kobold warrior here, ultimately my shield is my best friend. I am 48 and nearing this spec : 50 sword 39 hammer 42 shield Rest parry.

I know hammer is the go to for peeling, I originally liked the versatility of the above spec but am now wondering how terrible it would be to switch to 50 sword/shield 28 parry... basically losing the beloved hammer snare.

Primarily I am going to be a slam machine with some two handed ragnaroks attached. Are groups going to give me wedgies if I go this route? If going full sword is just not a viable option for peeling, is the rotation basically, slam ...snare...and THEN ragnarok if things are still going?

Thanks for any input.

Imo this splitspec is only good on paper but in real rvr situations its much more worth to have a high defense and high ws since offtanks have 360 degree evade you have very high chance of getting evaded with your 29 hammer....

Go 50 50 31 hammer shield parry

Go 50 50 31 hammer shield parry

Works fine in real RvR, not just on paper. It's worked fine for years.

Sword has an anytime 2 part snare chain and side chain 2 part snare chain. The hammer snare is one attack and easier to spam on a sprinting light tank, with a longer duration on snare.

I’m thinking a slam/ragnarok/side chain will be my go to, if slam purged just use anytime snare and hope support/damage train is paying attention.

Why does everyone like Ragnarok so much?

Is it the haste debuff?

Mjolnir's Fury in Hammer is better (although it's a parry style - but really the parry stun is probably more useful)

Disregard this comment.

It's one of the strongest ASRs in the game on a single style rather than a chain. It's also got a very high growth rate. Plus, fantastic name.

This is what I was thinking, do you really need a 29 second snare as opossed to a 9 or 15 second ALONG with a slam? How often is one light tank alive for 29 seconds...at that point the skirmish should mostly be decided.

I'm going 50 sword/shield then, if I get enough flack I might eventually reroll...I want a damn sword Kobbie. Thanks for input peoples.

Well it's not really about them being alive. It's about them not being able to chase your healers for 29 seconds.
