Will I get locked into a realm if I just need to delete a character?

I plan on deleting a character on one realm and logging into another realm, so I can create a character with the old character's name.

Will I be locked into my old realm if I just go into it to delete a character and exit out?

I heard you have to either log in or create a character to be locked into a realm for 12 hours.

I dont believe so. You need to actually log into a character in that realm. I accidentally clicked on Albion instead of hib when I went to log into my NS. I simply went back to the realm selection and chose Hib. I'm not 100% but I'm fairly certain you need to log into a character to start the timer.

creating a character definitely also locks you to that realm. So there are other factors that lock you to a realm.

@OP do you have other characters on that realm? If you delete all characters on a realm you can switch to another even if you were logged in a minute ago. Ofcourse that doesn't help in general, but if you are switching completely, and get locked, then you can delete the other characters too to avoid being stuck for 12hours

I do have other characters on there, but I don't think I'd delete them all just to have the name.

Hopefully it works. If not, I can always wait 12 hours and hope that no one takes the name haha

But since you can delete a character within the character select screen and exit out quickly, I'm confident it'll let me choose realms.

Would be nice to get a 100% confirmation though.

I deleted two characters from Alb, to use the names on Hib. I had been logged into Albion previously, so I had to wait 12 hours. In that 12 hour span, both names were taken. It made me quite sad, to have to misspell both of them once I finally started on Hib. For your sake I hope just deleting a character doesn't lock you in.

Damn, that sucks.

Luckily, it did not lock me into the realm after deleting my character.

I then clicked "Quit" after deleting and logged into a new realm, created the character with my old name.

Then I didn't like him, so I deleted him, and logged into a new realm and created a new character with my old name
