Server down / update status

When my power goes out I get a text or I can visit an outage center to see

a) they are aware of the problem
b) cause if known
c) ETA if known

Could there be placed somewhere in DIscord a channel for this. The server drops and I'm going all around tons of channels looking for obvious information. This clearly would save PMs popping in because I'm not a GM or Dev but I would bet my paycheck that some players think messaging instead of asking in a channel is wise and not burdensome to the staff. I'm confused why the staff wouldn't already have something in place like this as it much be a huge agitation - just make a channel so when you become aware of it, it is known to all. When the server drops unexpectedly, especially for NA players who usually just go to bed as there is no usual online support, it is frustrating to try and hunt down something this basic and simple and on EVERYBODY's mind.

I love what you do but this communication channel would benefit all, and would save some from staying up an extra hour attempting to join over and over when it is already known by staff it can't be fixed til morning - situations like this are totally avoidable, thanks!

Not sure if it works this way...but if you goto the PheonixWiki it shows the amount of players in game.

Seems that if the server was down it would show zero? If I'm wrong let me know that's just how I interpret it.

Now last night I got booted and was unable to get back in, but the game was still up because a friend was still in and playing plus it did show the amount of people playing on the wiki.

Just checked and the PheonixWiki does say if server is up or not and also says when it was last updated apparently. No idea how accurate it is.

I think you are missing the point of my post. Whether the server is up or down isn't in question really, I'm speaking of after a crash, which lately is daily, there is little to no information and there is no official direction on where to go to find the latest information about it coming back online. Right now again it just crashed, going to see if a web site correctly calls that information to show 0 players doesn't help the 6 channels filling up with questions and who knows how many PMs sent off to GMs about what is going on.

Just needs to be a channel where a GM/DEV states the latest they know on the matter. Right now I went into discord and the IM updates are beeping like its trying to morse code something to me, and I'm clicking each channel over and over looking for information. There must be a better way.

Well I think all information should be on here. I don't use Discord often but I always check the boards.

However, none of them are being paid so I also have no issue if they don't get around to it much. They do have lives and may not even know if it goes down at times.

Again missing the point I'm afraid. They are responding in Discord and muting channels because people are losing their mind. It's like sending the same text to 18 people separately on a regular basis and I'm trying to tell them, dawg, there's Group Messaging.

while i agree that there should be a more known and availalb eplace to go...i don't really think it would change MUCH...

the type of people that read almost nothing but spam questionsthreads as soon as something pops in their mind are just too high.
Look at all the posts about "just want to make sure i don't break a rule but can me and my familymember play from same IP". Seriously dudes, good on you for not wanting to break the rules. But the amount of effort you claim you want to put in somehow doesn't align with a new post about it while there already 3+ with the exact same question on the first forum page.

Sorry for the rant, but it is the same with the server downs. When i can't log in, i check if there is a thread/post on discord, and if there are already poeople spamming about it, then i don't ADD to it. Common sense imo, but apparently a hard concept to grasp despite being an "older" community

You're not wrong about that. My only response would be that the current users on discord know to click on this or that channel and are spamming bad, the devs/gms mute the channels a lot lately because of it. During EU times the restarts aren't usually much of a problem and communication is great. As an NA player I cannot say the same and to convey you the experience I had last weekend was server died when it was about 5am server time, after about 20 minutes and going between discord channel after discord channel as the only gm up was going into each to respond, was that we had to wait for someone to wake up over there, and it could be a few hours for that.

Putting all the info in one place and locking it like announcements page here would benefit all.
