Question about a rule

Now just wanna say I don't disagree with this rule lol

I' am not really experienced with older mmos such as daoc and etc, pretty much played runescape like crazy back then so that was my jam. Rule 9.2 Attacking an already attacked creature without the consent of the player who pulled the mob/s first, is strictly forbidden. I'm just curious as someone from modern mmos, such as modern wow an etc, where players can kinda gang up on things in the world without effecting exp / drops. What does doing so in this game cause? that could possibly be a bannable offense if done x amount of times? Not saying I'd do this I just gotta adjust and refrain from seeing something I may need to be killed out in the world rather its a quest or something and not being able to join in lol

Reduces xp and the person who has aggro when it dies gets loot.
As for bannability? I sure it could get to that, but you'd have to be a dick about it over multiple occurrences.

In EQ, players could own a camp, this game historically did not due that. So you can muscle someone out of a camp. What you don't do is steal others pulls. Once its pulled, its theirs.

without a rule like this, a AOE could follow a group around and leech XP of their pulls, while they do all the work of controlling the mobs and healing the damage to their tanks

just as an example

noone is going to get banned if this happens once or twice, noones even going to get a GM involved over that.
Especially in DF people often train huge mobblobs through other groups while running away. It happens, and it can get you wiped without your fault too. Just don't do it on purpose though, THAT would be a dickmove

Seeing this rule blew my mind and the above is first time I've seen a good explanation of why it's needed.

I'm generally a helpful player and I enjoy helping others out in a pinch, so I was bummed to initially read this rule. I recognize that people struggle sometimes with mobs and no one really wants to do a corpse run. Glad to see the rule wouldn't apply to any of the situations I'm involved in.
