I see alot of banhammer posts in the Ban section.

Should I be concerned about playing on the same network with my wife? What scares me is that she damn near plays like a bot... almost always on follow because she is distracted by phone/kid/dog/etc.

the advice that is always stated: if you are actually AFK for longer than a few minutes, log out

Admins challenge accounts that are logging from the same IP and i don't know exactly what is done, but i guess both accounts have to respond/do something which someone who is duallogging won't be able to do.

so being distracted in between is no problem. Buffing you, sticking you and going to the playground with the kids or cooking dinner for half an hour would be a risk.

It sucks a bit, from YOUR PoV, because stuff like that wouldn't really be dual logging in that case, but it's the only way to keep multiaccounters in check

Have her log out if she's going to be afk for more than 5m and you should be fine.

If she's going to be distracted enough to where she can't come back to pass a bot test, just have her log out.

Good question. If your wife is "bot like" in play style, you should be prepared to be challenged by a GM via a player report. You will be tested to prove that 2 players are playing 1 character each.

I have similar concerns, it's hard to say don't go afk for 5 mins with young kids. I get you can just log out, but one of us is definitely going to forget to log out at some point and I really do not want to get banned. It is very easy to pulled away for 5 mins for minor situations with kids... yet I would like to play with my wife as well. I probably will not introduce her for fear of myself getting banned, kind of a bummer. Yet, I love the fact that buff bots are not a thing.

Just don't pull mobs while they are AFK. If they have to go chase the kids there is no reason you can't just stop pulling until they get back. My wife has gone AFK for longer periods and I just stand and wait for her. (Or I /dance with mobs and random passers by)

Not to argue, but this only works if you are duoing. We regularly play with other people - enjoy grouping etc. Its simple to say just stop pulling and be fine, but in reality you cant control everyone else and with a small child its highly unpredictable as any parent would know.

That all said - even just logging out is kind of ridiculous, So she (or I) logs out a couple times over a good xp session extrapolated over days - all of a sudden we're getting more and more level distance between each other.

I guess time will tell.

Does she also play an Aug shaman?

I detect the sarcasm. No, and therein lies my point. I'd hope there is some research done before jumping to conclusions...

a question that shouldn't impact the outcome in a perfect world, but when people (devs) have to gauge if someone is multiaccounting or not, the whole package will be considered (wild guess, i don't know their procedure). A warrior being afk in a grp for 10minutes to smoke might not raise too many flags or be more believable when explaining, while an aug shaman being sticked is more suspicious. In the end it is a human being making a decision based on the situation and the reaction to the "test"

I mean that's the go-to excuse right? My brother/friend/wife likes playing an Aug Shaman/Cleric/Druid and he/she goes AFK a lot, how convenient!

On a related note, I can't stand people who AFK a lot while in groups... if you can't stay and do your job please don't bother joining any group I'm in.

Of course, there are tests that can be done to ensure that there's more than 1 person controlling both characters.

1. Account Policy
1.1 Multiple Phoenix accounts are not permitted. There may only be one account per person. Measures are incorporated to detect multiple user accounts. This includes creating an additional Phoenix account when banned or suspended.
If you play from the same household (example: husband and wife, father and son etc. ) you must play the same realm. If you try to play different realms, it will be considered cross-realming and will be punished according to our rules.

1.2 A player is not allowed to log his/her account and another players account at the same time.
If you are playing from the same household and one of you has to AFK for more than 10 minutes, make sure to log out of the game as you might get tested for dual logging. If, after 10 minutes, the test fails, the ban will be applied.

We wont just ban player without talking to them. If your wife/husband/brother/what ever person you live with needs to go AFK for some time, it is best to let him/her log out of the game. Ofc it happens that sometimes you forget to log out and surely someday will be the day that a GM will take notice of that and wants to test you. If a kid is crying and you need to leave the pc (every parent knows that situation) you are normally still able to react on something in Game. If its something where you have to leave the house or smth, you definitely need to log off, as we cant make sure there are 2 player behind those characters.

My wife and I play together and share the same router, so the same IP address. We were tested once in beta and I can assure you that you wont be able to pass that test unless you have two real players at two real PCs.

I play Zerker and she plays Shammy or Healer so that's a classic buff bot look.

I sometimes play with my daughter in the same house but we have never been tested. I suppose it is because it is obvious that our two characters, a skald and a warrior, are two people actually playing.
