I played live for what seems like "forever" and quit several years ago and moved to Uthgard. Played Uthgard for a while but the pop just died off so I left. Just saw some streams with what looked like active RVR and it got me curious. Myself and 3 of my old crew "were" planning on returning to uthgard but I wanted to check this server out.
Not being rude but someone tell me why I should bring my friends here over Uthgard? I mean what makes this server special? I am honestly curious.
PS: I looked around, didn't see this so will ask ...
This isn't an I50 is it?
Whats the population like on the 3 realms?
I see the server has newer races, does it also have newer classes such as Vamps and Warlocks?
First of all, welcome to the forums.
I too am a DAOC junky (since 2001)
I also tried Uthgard, so have a reasonable idea of how to compare.
To answer your questions:
1. This isn't an i50 server. It is just currently in the latter stages of beta test in with a release date set for January 12th, 2019 3 a.m. PST.
2. Currently there are usually 100-200 people active during most playtimes. Since it's in beta testing and everything will be wiped in late December prior to launch you can take that for what it's worth. (In my opinion very little) I'm relatively sure launch will be at least comparable to Uthgard launch. Maybe/ hopefully not the 4,000+ trying to get on the first week. I wouldn't be surprised if the first month boasts around 2,000 players. (Highly speculative of course and just my opinion) Also, the population per realm is varying at the moment due to no realm switch time now. This will NOT be the case at launch.(12 hour switch timer)
3. The server targets 1.65 with many QOL items of interest that are too numerous to count.
(I seriously suggest looking at the official website and check all that out) Since this is the case, there are no vamps, warlocks, heretics, or maulers. Although new RAs have recently been introduced and are being tested as we speak.
Overview:
Since it is F2P and easy to get in, I'd not hesitate to recommend trying it out for beta. If testing and knowing effort will be wiped makes this seem like a waste of time, wait 2 months and give it a try. If having fun is you and your buddy's goals then go ahead and try it now. Get a jump start since its i50, free RR 5L9, and unlimited free respecs to test out spec and RA possibilities.
