Ok so this is no way intended to be of any offense to the makers of this server as I appreciate everything they are doing and believe they are making the best daoc server out at the moment.
But if you could create your own dream server what would it be?

Mine would be a custom PvP server with all classes and races up to live. All zones disabled besides mainland, ToA, and new frontiers. New RA's and rr5 abilities, Champion levels enabled, no buff pots/bots. Artifact and ML encounters would be decreased in difficulty and time required. Also max group size of 5 players. Speed 5 mounts enabled. Include the new Valewalker/Friars/Thane style procs, Pally with celerity, Warden with shield spec, and dual chants for all classes.

Leave him alone, troll.

Max group sizes of 5 is the right idea.

Live, but with these changes:

- some classes I don't like nerfed.
- some RA's I die to nerfed.
- my favorite class buffed.
- more counters to the playstyles I don't like.
- fewer counters to the playstyles I like.

Bring settings back to the excact date I had the most fun.

My ideal server is not even an original idea, it's been done before by other games very successfully and is the only method I know of to truly please everyone:

It's called a Progression Server. The game starts out in classic and after a certain period of time (there are several ways to determine this from straight up x amount of weeks, to a player vote, to certain saturation of items, etc) when the next expansion opens. It would cycle from Classic right through to Labyrinth of the Minotaur, before ultimate resetting and wiping back to fresh restart after a couple of years.

My favorite period of content is Trials of Atlantis and early Catacombs. There are also a lot of people who share my view. However, as all of you know, there are a lot of people who prefer Shrouded Isles, some who want just classic, and others who LOVE Labyrinth of the Minotaur. I have been around this game since early 2002 and I have made a lot of friends in this time, and I have asked many, many of them if they would like to play on such a server. The answer has ALWAYS been yes.

I enjoyed when toa launched and would actually enjoy it mostly though just for pve content, I get bored with the classic and even SI because once you cap all that is really left is the same stuff, toa at least gave me encounters to do and scrolls to farm, there's just no rush like going out to green glades and finally you find Cloudsong is up and you can do it or you got the shades of mist 3/3 scroll, there's just no super exciting drops here and that was my personal joy.

I get it wrecked pvp balance, and later additions like vampir stuff when I came back. Lab gave a kind of DF feel but hardly found pvp there, and going back to live is not the same as just stopping at toa, which to answer your question would be fun to at least try again at era 2004 before tons of patches and later expacs.

MLs sucked so I'd go as far as getting the patch to add the Glass like feathers behave here. I'm fully aware I'm probably in the minority about enjoying daoc pve as much though. I really enjoyed the artifact system of having to kill beasts or something to level it up, was a great idea to populate zones and areas that were ghostlands, and the arsenal and builds were much more fun to play with , what breastplate to wear, the unique designs of them, just all around good content update for pve but horrible unbalancer for pvp in most respecs, it was the dawn of like 1.3sec or whatever it was spec nukes and mages ruled in most fights.

The champion system was fun too and horses for boring speedless classes. Again this is all fine for pve really only though.

For pve to me was best expac for content for $$ spent on an expac.

Mordred reboot with zones having level requirements for pvp i.e. epic zones would act as a battleground for 44-50, whereas starter towns would cap pvp to 14 and under. I think this would add some more "safe zones" and also concentrate pvp like Phoenix realm tasks have done.

New Frontiers - New RAs - Underwater pots - No Buff pots - No heal pots - No mana pots - No endo pots - No cows - No buffbots - No dual account
Artifacts lootable from any purple mob with a chance equal to mob_level/10 & artifact usable ONLY in PvE, no minimal level check.
Love XP the way it is on phoenix, 48h to 50 is perfect.
Love the feather system *but* there should be more ways to loot feathers (eg: one efficient group in trollheim will own the bosses tour)
Love the pvp tasks, it brought people in RvR and speeds the path to 5L+
Love the Transport system on phoenix.
Love the ROG system of Phoenix to equip the chars while progressing, simply awesome.
Realm switch 8h. Twelve is nice though but with 8 you can play with friends, go to sleep with the switch on, play the morning for 4h, do your stuff for 8h and be back to play with your friends in the evening.
*** ToA Classes playable up to level 34 (BG only classes - honestly it's just because I never tried them and hear it's all too OP).
***** Simplified rules: Always get one warning for everything -then- on Offense: Cheat = perma BAN / Grief Play = 3d BAN / Impersonate staff = 7d BAN /
No BAN for bad words because we are all adults OR should be held responsible for our kids education (aka not letting the kids play if they take every word they read seriously... I know it applies to some people in their 20s nowadays tho *sigh*).

While this would be my dream server, I do think Phoenix does an awesome job overall, they are open, listening and always up to try new things to have a pleased and steady population. I'm a bit exhausted by the beta at the moment but I can safely say this server is going to be great.

Love the ROGs here. Kicks ass how every ROG armor/weapon drop has a proc, and that drops are weighted to be more likely to be usable by your class. You literally will never have to buy/SC/alch gear until 50, unless you want to twink for BGs.
I like the phoenix eggs/feather system, although I'd switch phoenix eggs and feathers. Seems finding phoenix feathers would be a lot more common than eggs...just sayin'
Task system sure beats live, although I'm not a fan of the "dominate" one.

Things I would change here if I could would be:
-- either make pots last 23 minutes like buffs do or until you die, or do away with them and add the buff NPCs that live had
--NF instead of OF
--NF instead of OF

As old Camlann Player , i would love to see a good PvP server. I loved the PvP setting beeing able to combine all classes in one group or guild. And Xp in any Realm you want, use weapon and armor from other realms.

There were some nice PvP Freeshards in the past which didnt last long sadly, they had nice features like custom keeps in mainland of Albion to capture. Was a nice time. It was called Dracis if i remember right?

I would like to see a server with no buff pots and no charge items. I think those items really destroy self buffing classes.

Like live but
4man grp cap
Remove mls
Remove charge stacking
Increase spreadheal costs extremely
Replace broadsword with Phoenix staff

Can't believe there are people that don't realize that Toa was the worst thing that happened to daoc.

Whatever the perfect server is, it sure as hell would not have Toa.

Nothing wrong with the ToA zones, ML abilitys was hte bad part with ToA

ToA was my best daoc experience ever, pve wise. Loved it!

Sure, there wasn't anything wrong with the zones, still doesn't change the fact that it was the worst thing to happen to Daoc.
