I hear a lot of people talking about conditions of the server.
Which sort of sux, btw. Everyone fighting in Emain in one small area.
Zerging. Ganking. Lack of leadership. Then getting rolled over and over by groups or small man while pugging or solo.
There will be some of that on live here but not like this.
1. People will be xping.
2. People will be crafting.
3. People will be forming guilds and doing things as guilds.
4. Not everyone can have instant everything.
And a few other obvious things.
I kind of wonder what we SHOULD be doing with our remaining beta time.
I think we should step back from the pvp a bit and do some more focused stuff.
What do we need tested? Can the devs direct us? Do we want to test some areas of the game like relics or dragons or what?
If devs want certain things tested let the players know and we can try and test them.
At a certain point, I believe it would be in the best interest of the server to close the beta. And then at that point the devs can focus on:
1. Fixing bugs.
2. Figuring out when they will go live.
3. Sending out notification to all the players about when live is.
4. Advertising somewhere, and asking the players to advertise.
5. We can also make getting started guides, class guides, have a guild recruiting area, etc, etc, etc on forums.
I also think there needs to be a balance phase for various things and we should see some polls asking for player input on what they want to see or have some good focused discussions within the forum.
And you CAN predict player behavior somewhat. What will that first day and week of live be like? Do we want all things rolled out at that time? Tasks yes or no? DF controlled by keeps, yes or no? Keep taking yes or no? Etc, etc, etc. Do we need level or rr caps put in place? What do we want to see for a long term success of the server and how do we accomplish those things?
Maybe just a simple question answered-- or asked-- what would a successful roll out of the server look like? What sort of population can we expect? How do we maintain that population.
