De-incentivize PvP and incentivize RvR (direct the player base into completing more realm oriented objectives):


    Significant diminishing returns on realm points for repeat kills in gate zones on a timer; players are still free to PvP if that is what they wish, but will not be awarded "realm points", as these activities aren't conducive to the realm.
    Immunity from this rule in the proximity of the border keeps.
    Defenders are immune to this rule. They're fighting an incursion into their frontier areas and should be rewarded, where ever they may be.
    Whereas, invaders need to have an productive objective in mind when they enter an enemy frontier. So either they fight for the border keep, or they push deeper into enemy frontier lands.
    Task areas immune to this rule, if you decide to keep them.
    Perhaps, once the invaders have enough of a foothold in an enemy frontier (say they own the majority of the keeps), this rule can be disabled.
    Make keeps and kills within the proximity of an objective especially rewarding; more rewarding than some random skirmish.


There are scores of others games that have PvP progression systems, if that is your forte. For the realm(s)!

This is supposed to an objective based Realm v Realm game that supports large scale battles. Not 8v2, 8v1 in Emain etc..

The Full Groups should be fighting over keeps not circling Emain or something.

Keep War

Holding an enemy keep awards a realmwide 10% RP bonus.


    A realm must own all of their frontier keeps to receive the bonus for holding enemy keeps. This makes border keeps highly contested. (Odin's, Hadrian's, Emain)

    Keep Commanders drop chests that include Claws, bounty points, feathers, and tinderboxes. These chests are the ones the Caravans carry to the keeps.

    Players killed at or near keeps are worth 20% more RP.

    Capturing a keep gives RP to participants. Scale the instant RP bonus based on the number of attackers/defenders or duration since the last keep take.


Earn Keep Points for holding enemy keeps.


    Once one realm amasses a certain total amount of Keep points they are the Keep War winner.

    Think of it like a keep vault that is filled as you hold enemy keeps

    There could be an underdog bonus for capturing and holding keeps if one realm is super far behind in terms of total keep points.

    Winning the Keep War grants the winning realm unique cosmetics, dyes , a special realmwide event, an rp bonus, and a commemoration statue in their Capital City.

1 week break after a realm is declared the victor.

The incentives have to be high. DAOC is about Realm v Realm and keep taking should be at the forefront.

Keep fights should be what bring players to the Frontiers.

Realmwide Announcements for keeps under attack and captured. This way players know where to find the action.

I think it is important that there is a winning realm in the Keep War. It can create realm pride and unite players on a realm to fight for everyone.

You shouldn't get reduced RP for losing your keeps. -35% what. Come on Uthred.
