RVR Emain (DEVS)

Hello,
please if all RVR will be in Emain consider a timer for Albs and Mids to gate again, they are there in 1 min, and Hibs in 5+ min.
A master teleporter like time ago would be enough.

Sorry if my suggestion is already noticed by someone else.

albs/mids release directly to the keep in emain no need to port there, imho hibs just need a keep to port to which is closer, action is nice and fast for mids/albs no need to punish them, hibs just need some love

Or what is even easier, just add a bindstone to one of the nearby Hib keeps (that is only active is Hibs own the keep and upgrade that keep to lvl 10 so noone will take it

People need to stop denying the obvious. The player base does not want Classic DAoC. The player base does not want anything close to a Modified Classic DAoC. They want instant combat. Instant entertainment... so just make a battleground instance similar to what all the MMO's do now-a-days. People just want to fight. No one cares about keeps. No one cares about the "realm". DAoC won't ever recapture that type of stuff. Just make battlegrounds and be done with it. Hell - many 8 man groups already communicate in Discord for their little skirmishes. "Meet me at X". Just be done with the foolishness and put in instance battlegrounds.

Battlegrounds, yes.

Instanced, no.

There is an arena that covers several of your scenarios. No need to add a redundant dynamic.

RP's should be rewarded in the arena.

Just get rid of the open world frontiers. No one cares about keeps or relics. Most prefer relics not even exist.

Instances allow for an "end" to occur.

Game would be much more fun this way. Player base will rise and be maintained. The 8 man crew has their playground. The small man crew has their playground. The solo crew has their playground.

Current combat is:

Midgard:
Zone in Emain - run to AMG - kill until your killed.

Albion:
Zone in Emain - run to AMG - kill until your killed.

Hib:
Run to AMG - kill until your killed.

All it creates is a see-saw battle back and forth between the APK and MPK. Boring as fuck and predictable.

No, not fun, because instances aren't going to be invaded and upset by interlopers. Keeping an eye over your shoulder is part of the fun.

Meanwhile, the area causes a loss condition for stealthing at the wrong time, so I've never bothered. But I'm keen on it being there for visibels to e-peen, and keep everyone happy.

Why even have keeps though? Poll the player base to see who actually enjoys keep attacking. Sure - defending is "fun" because you can accumulate lots of RP. Well you use to be able to. Since PBAoE now requires line of sight to work - not going to be "fun" anymore to even defend.

It is boring.
RvR tasks are boring.

i50 shows you the end game of what it will be like once people get templated and RR5. They just want combat. The quickest combat is Emain. That will never change.

Scrap the idea of frontiers and just make battlegrounds / arenas the focus.

I would rather want to see a System of port chains up to the second to last keep. So the place of the fight will be near that port exit. And tactical and strategical raiding will have a meaning.

And get rid of the stealther-keeps pls.

The pbae line of site change is unfortunate. That was the best part about keep fights.

Please God no arenas. There are literally 100s of other games where you can have X vs X arena battles.

no instanced pvp pls, how can I add or surprise someone if they know how many people will be there, fast action is good but I want to be able to kill someone when they dont expect it or until the odds are in my favor (like letting the zerg run by and kill stragglers) that just doesnt happen in instanced pvp

Did you ever play daoc in arena mode in other freeshard ? If yes, you will never say that.

You can make some crazy arena . You see the arena like someone port in front of you and fight you directly, but there is some crazy map for arena 1v1 like , inside a part of a TOA dunjeon where you can play with the maps and so.

And if you wan’t to kill people from zerg and so for exemple with a stealther, in arena 32vs32 people die and have to come back from PK , There your job is , to don’t let them go back to the war ! Or kill the stealther who try to do the same at your realm ! Man you really don’t know what are you talking about , they can make soo crazy things ! Way more fun than just go amg in emain and fight until you get rekt by 8v1 ^^

Dark Age of Camelot is no way designed for Arena, just consider the RA system. It is designed around keeps and relics.

The popularity of Emain demonstrates how players want fast action without much running to and across zones.

Which makes one wonder would the best solution have been to create a bigger version of emain like Cathal Valley that included all the RvR objectives like keeps and relics.
