PvP Event - Existing Characters

The Proving Grounds style PVP has obviously been a huge success. I know it's the most fun my friends and I have had in the game for years. It's always fun to level up new characters, but at a certain point, people are going to have most of the classes they want to have and it would be awesome to be able to enjoy the fun of the event while progressing one of the characters you already have.

So what about something like this:
Take an existing level 50 character to the event. The character gets reset to level 1 and 1L1 for the event. You play the event just like a "new" character would play it. When the event is over, your character is restored to level 50 and original realm rank. Any realm points made during the event would be added to your original realm point total before entering the event.
Plenty of logistics to work out there, if even possible, but just wanted to throw the idea out there.

Wouldn't "taking an existing level 50 character to the event" really just be "going to RvR"? It's starting to sound like we're slowly converting the server into an arena which then slowly evolves back into RvR.

And to be frank, I really, really don't want to give people even more reason to spend all their time in the event. Anyone who's not interested in the cross-realming, pseudo-arena style of gameplay basically has to take a break from playing the game entirely while the event is running already.

I don't think so. They are very different. This game came out when I was in high school and approx. 20 yrs later with much more life responsibilities, I find it very difficult to find the time to play in an 8-man. The PvP event is a great way for me to get in some good PvP without all the lost time of forming a group, roaming around looking for fights, etc.

We're talking about 2-3 days every what, 3 weeks? This would be better than having a 24/7 arena type event that would be constantly taking people away from normal rvr.

Just port all lvl50s out of the event after it ends and the rest may stay. But could be more complicated to make it work then it sounds I admit.

For myself as a filthy casual the events are too short to get to 50 in the time given. And I don't want raise lots of mid 30 chars...

So no event for me I guess. But as the Irish say: Could be worse!

That is a fantastic idea. I would definitely really enjoy taking one of my 50's into the event as a naked level 1. A chance to make some real RPS and have a blast on my main would be great. I still enjoy NF and this would just enhance the effectiveness of that 50 when I return to RvR on them.

Would there buy a "buy in"? Like, to gain this access must I spent 30k Bounty Points? This would stop everyone from doing this, but those who wish to take advantage of the massive PvP going on, who might not otherwise have a chance to find action in the Frontier would really appreciate this. Plus it's not like the event is every weekend or even once a month at this point.

The whole event < 50 would be dead if you can level up prior to the event or port old characters.

Why would you delete?

I did not convey my point very well.

I'd be willing to pay BP's or Gold or Other Valuables to take an existing character there. As soon as they port in they are level 1, no gear, no rps. When the event is over the RPS they have earned during the event are added to their existing Realm Points earned prior to the event.

The whole idea I tried to present was to be able to enjoy the event and progress an existing character at the same time.

Deleting and recreating isn't exactly progression.
