Dedicated Phoenix Stream for casuals

Ill be playing / streaming daily.

It'll be General gameplay from leveling characters to just hanging out mostly casual stuff, no hardcore 8 man, it's for people who want to see what Dark Age of Camelot is about and watch somebody play it.

So if you see me out and about this is a notice that you're all on video. Do something awesome so people can see how this is such a one-of-a-kind game

You Fancy Ducks! It totally creeped me out, you came over the hill and I was on stream and I said oh God here we go this is going to be ugly and I came right at you guys waiting for the insta death but you ran right around and started dancing, and then ran off. It was too funny good stuff guys /salute.

It's been a lot of fun, good fights good PVE, have had quite a few people stop by for Nostalgia reasons and talk, have had a couple of people actually join the game a few of which did not speak English, thank you very much Google translate and copy and paste.

We all love Dark Age of Camelot, and we can all be Frenemies.

Loud was the sound, of metal hitting stone as his shield fell to the hard floor. Exhausted, Kaosfury lumbers through the doorway to the barracks loosening straps to his armor by memory, too tired to think. Finding his bunk he leans with his back against the wall and takes a sigh of relief.

"Get some well-needed rest Soldier of Albion." Said the Commander. "You are needed on the battlefield in the morning."

Epic keep-taking effort on Saturday night!

Congrats to all the heroes of Albion that came out to help us wrest control of our frontier keeps from the invaders! For a while it was only one or two groups of us beating on doors, die to guards, and trying (and only marginally succeeding) to get siege rams working. I don't think we ever figured out how to use the miniature rams. A big thanks to everyone who came out to support the impromptu effort, but special thanks to that handful of scouts that managed to (only just) keep us in the fight. It was chaotic, thrilling, and exhilarating! Made me proud to be an Alb and a member of that small band on that night!

Here's to many future glorious battles and the heroic stories that they will inspire!

I'm trying to envision a day in the life of kaos's stream.... New character models for sure, default UI, in game music/sound effects on blast, far beyond sub par gameplay mechanics, adrenaline filled tunnel vision melee fighting, mostly ending in defeat. An optimistic 10 minute run back into the frontiers filled with terriblly cringy jokes. Meanwhile engaging his chat with his VAST daoc knowledge of unparraleled experience, a truly never ending cycle of task chasing and releasing.

Am I close?

new models yes = thats how i want to play.

Default UI = yes, because i want new players to be able to see my screen, and when they play... they see the same thnig, im not trying to confuse people with alternate UI they would not be familiar with, when i watch streams i hate it. the streamers knows whats up, but if the game is new to me, i want it to be default.

sound / music = on low yup, thats how i like it.

far beyond sub par play = debatable, some days are better then others, but as the stream is titled, casuals, no elitism awsome sauce look how $%^ cool i am stream, thats not what this is about and very clearly stated that in the title.

mostly ending in defeat = sure.

optimistic 10 minute run back = yup, im a good due, and love the game and showing the day in the life of a single player at times, some times i group.

terrible cringy jokes = some times, my humor is not for every one. the fact you said cringy leads me to believe your a 20 something hipster millenial

Vast knowledge of DAoC = absolutly, with some awsome $%^^& insite into this server, because i follow all the dev conversation and all the post and want to stay knowledgable about the server, thats why its a new player help stream or a retuning... i know what im talking about.

Oh yeah I'm going to keep going on, every day, all day, except for the real life stuff that gets in the way, 4.5 thousand views since I started a couple weeks ago, almost a hundred people following, getting people into the game letting people know about Phoenix, absolutely love it.

We're going to have a great time on release guys, Dark Age of Camelot is rising from the ashes with Phoenix.

By the way, the hibbys are taking relics

Anyhoo, I just wanted to respond here and say that you sound like an experienced Dark Age of Camelot player. I can't be sure, but from the way you come across in your message, I'd bet that you've spent time on Live and/or one or more free shards. You sound like you know how the game is played, and have some skill to back it up. You have an interest in the server; you've heard about or watched a few of Kaosfury's streams. You've read the forums here or at least skimmed a few threads that piqued your interest. You created an account so you can post here. You may have even installed and played the game for a while.

If you will permit me to make a humble assessment, I think that you are the kind of player that would fit in nicely here in Phoenix. I think that you bring something to the table of ideas here. I think that you could teach us a few things about how your favorite class is played. We have a lot of old and new players who need some pointers or refreshers. I think you have a lot to contribute.

So please, be kind. Not everyone here is a great twitch game player. Not everyone here has elite skills. We are a small but growing group of people who love Dark Age of Camelot and who want the server to be successful and thrive. And it sounds like you are just like us. Join us! Log in and roll your favorite character in your favorite realm and show us how it's done!

I call for a do-over for depth on the forums. Everyone makes mistakes, and we are all better together. C'mon, let's game!

Alright, there's a few things to unpack here. First of all, thank you for the kind message Tamlan, you seem like a genuinely decent person for taking the time to post that. Now, there's a couple reasons I jumped on Kaos in this thread, which I now feel obligated to explain since there is a decent human being among us. Most of which has nothing to do with what was said in my initial post about his stream which I've never watched, that was a troll. So I can understand, given that we just met each other, exactly how much of an asshole I sounded like in the original post.

Now Kaos, let me be direct.
The reason you piss me off on these forums, and in in-game chat, is because of the tone you take up when people are making suggestions, debating QoL, or essentially any idea they deem to be a positive server change that doesn't jive with your 'classic should be a total pain in the ass 'cause that's how it was back in '02' mindset. It's stifling and oppressive to a discussion when you come into a thread and say things like:

"they have a server just the way you want it, its called ywain. too much crying about speed. L2P , sack up. rise above it, over come it, dont change this server because you dont like it, or cant hack it." (no digging required here, this is a direct quote from literally the last thread I saw you post in)

Really dude? Get outta here with the tough guy attitude, and certainly that thread if you're not there to offer anything constructive. That's your opinion, we get it, but it's pretty douchey sounding if that's all you had to offer. No further insights, no examples or explanations as to why you're right and their wrong. You run around solo on a melee toon 95% of the time, with no speed, we get it. You have no background in 8vX rvr, please stop pretending to be authoritative. Your opinion does matter, (but not very much), when it comes to broader changes that impact the overall stability of the current rvr sytem (RAs / Class Balancing, etc.). The reason I say (not very much) is because you represent an exceptionally small percentage of the rvr demographic (sorry, I didn't bring my Pew Research Poll to back that figure up), but it's true.

My opinion matters no more than yours, but this is a Classic server with QoL changes, that happens to be run by people that are open to suggestions. We are trying to help create an atmosphere that can land somewhere in the middle of what we all can agree on, that is the overall objective. So with that being said I apologize for the stab I took at you in my earlier post, and thanks again to Tamlan for being so humbling.

Not really, no. But what I am is someone who has seen the death of more than a few classic shards due to bad ideas being perpetuated by bloomin' reerees like yourself.

As a master cable and satellite technician for over 20 years, I've earned my Nest Egg, that's why I'm able to sit back and play Dark Age of Camelot do something I'd rather do, like streaming Phoenix server.

Anybody trying to make a living off of streaming a fifteen-year-old game at a free shard is not doing it for the right reasons in my opinion.

Your previous post you admit you're just here to Heckle and troll, you actually make a statement I'm just here trolling.

I apologize if anything I said made you so mad it is turned into this.

It's nothing personal Kaos. I just think we could use a better ambassador for noobs. It's like the blind leading the blind up in here.

Remember on Uthgard when you were up in arms about how great your BM was with no dual wield? A shield/1h BM... Allll over region chat defending and soliciting misguided information like the above brilliant idea, and so many more. That's just one more example of perpetuating bad ideas to noobies, in your typical authoritative manner, that I take issue with. I mean, clearly your ancient daoc knowledge is unquestionable. We should all stop discussing QoL or server opinions when the All Knowing Kaos drops his classic L2P line in a thread. Have you ever considered that some players might want to have QoL changes like speed, xp increase, insert QoL here, because we cant sit at home for 6 hours neckbearding it up on daoc? Or maybe we want changes so that the server remains healthy for longer, unlike that other shard you defended to the T for 1.65. Your a rare breed, and your opinion is not mainstream and that's fine.

Now dont get me wrong. Theres nothing wrong with speccing a toon and/or playing a toon how you want to, but please spare us, and the people who would otherwise not know any better, from your ineptitude. Like I said you really are a 1%er, a guy who likes the challenge of running a gimp spec on solo classes and obviously find enjoyment in the endeavour. That's honorable. But when you then try and take your shitty opinions and preach them like the gospel, well, someone has to call a spade a spade here.

If I have confused you with a different reeree on Uth I really do apologise.

If I am not mistaken, and I could be, I thought the point of this thread is to let players, those returning, current, and new players, know about his stream so they can watch phoenix game play and help them with any questions about the server they may have. It sounds to me like one of the reasons for his stream is to help those on the server.

I do not think you are discouraging new players to join this server (I hope you're not). I hope you are finding ways to help others come into the server as well. My point was he is just trying to help others, which we need more of on this server.
