Sup,
I want to begin by saying that I really appreciate that we finally get Draughts of Speed (Haste buff) to reduce unnecessary inventory clutter.
(See my other thread in which I proposed to combine the 3 different frontier XP items (dirt, snow, branch) into 1 item for the same effect.)
That being said the new draught of speed will be useless at its current estimated price point.
To illustrate this we have to do some math, sorry.
The best comparison would be the potion of shard skin (dmg shield) which was originally only available as potion but got a draught version later on. Furthermore it costs the same as a potion of speed making the comparison fairly simple.
As price for tears we will assume a price of 5p for 20k feathers which is 2k tears, in other words 2.5g per tear. The mat cost from the npc merchant is ofc unnegotiable.
Profit not included.
Lets run the numbers.
Potion of shard skin, 10 charges:
Mat cost: 7.5g
Feather cost: 2.5g
Total cost: 10g
Cost per charge: 1g
Draught of shard skin, 100 charges:
Mat cost: 75g
Feather cost: 25g
Total cost: 100g
Cost per charge: 1g
Potion of speed, 10 charges:
Mat cost: 7.5g
Feather cost: 2.5g
Total cost: 10g
Cost per charge: 1g
Draught of speed, 100 charges (bits & pieces merchant):
Mat cost: 0g
Feather cost: 750g
Total cost: 750g
Cost per charge: 7.5g
Draught of speed, 100 charges (crafting):
Mat cost: 75g (unknown but I assume 10x the amount of potion)
Feather cost: 187.5g
Total cost: 262.5g
Cost per charge: 2g 62s 50c
Is it worth paying x7.5 times as much or later x2.625 times as much as a potion for the simple benefit of saving 1-3 inventory slots? I doubt it. And why do we even have to make a choice in the first place? It wasn't the case with shard skin and I see no benefit introducing an uplift in cost now. (I'm dead serious, I have no idea and would love an explanation for this.)
Furthermore all other draughts actually gain in value. A combined forces draught is more costly than buying 1 buff draught separately, but it is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying all the buffs it includes separately. Same with combined regeneration.
This would be the first case in which a draught has a reduction in value and a heavy one on top of it.
Please don't do this.
Just make it 10x the cost of normal potions of speed and everyone would be happy, just like with shard skin draughts.
